Hello again,

My findings on Alan's V2010_PL.bin from Technicolor Build (second file)

MENU takes you to the Main MENU as it should.

GUIDE = prompts a mini guide at the bottom, not the Full Guide.

INFO = Channel Up.

LAST Channel = Full Guide.

Red Custom = REC

Green, Yellow, Blue = Nothing happens

White Custom = Back/Full Guide

Same as with my previous post, no button is assigned for OPC (OPTIONS).

Thank you again!

Balperro

Thanks Balperro, I can incorporate your findings into the file. Should I assume that all the other buttons do what they're supposed to do? Also, did none of the other custom buttons do anything?

The INFO button had the same code as CH+, so that explains that one. The WHITE button had the same code as MENU, so what you thought was BACK was really MENU. I just noticed that the EXIT button has the same code as the Full Guide, so I guess we're missing an EXIT/BACK button. Do the arrow buttons work, and if so, does the OK button work to select menu items?

If you're up for doing another test to search for the OPC button, I can make a special bin file which only has unaccounted for button codes, so you can see if any of them do anything.

Hello again Rob,

My findings for YOUR build (V2011_PL.bin)

POWER = ON/OFF
PLAY = Brings interactive Menu for RWD or FWD
REWD = Rewind
Stop = Stop
FWD = Fast Forward
|<< = Does nothing
Pause = Pause
>>| = Does nothing
Instant Replay ⊃ = Does nothing
REC = Does nothing
Quick Skip ⊂ = Does nothing
GUIDE = I believe is OPC (OPTIONS) but not always work. It depends on the actual Channel and Interactive Features of the particular show. I believe it has nothing to do with the actual programming of the button key, but to the actual content, channel and interactive options available.

MENU = Takes you to the Main Menu
INFO = Channel Up

ALL Four Arrow Keys work as expected
OK/SELECT = Does OK/SELECT just fine
Channel + = Channel Up
Channel - = Channel Down
EXIT = While on Prompt Menus, does EXIT. When no Prompt Menus, brings Main GUIDE
Page + = Disabled button; Does nothing
Page - = Disabled button; Does nothing

RED = REC
Once Recording if press RED (REC) again, it STOPS the Recording session
GREEN = Does nothing
YELLOW = Does nothing
BLUE = Does nothing
WHITE/GRAY = Main MENU

All numbers from 1 through 0 work as expected

LAST Channel = Main GUIDE and or Brings you to LIVE TV (I do not know why, but it has these two behaviors)

ENTER = It can be pushed, but Does nothing

Mini Arrow UP key at the right bottom corner of the remote = Channel UP
Mini Arrow DOWN key at the right bottom corner of the remote = Channel DOWN

Thanks again,
Balperro

Hey Balperro, do you know how to test the custom buttons? I believe there is a drop-down menu or something that you use to access them. I programmed lots of random codes to those in the hopes that you would test them and see if any of them do anything. I expect most to do nothing, but 1 or 2 of them might contain working buttons.

Also, you have a real remote for this box, right? If so, could you try the OPC "Options" button to see what it really does? You hinted above that maybe what you're calling the "Mini Guide" is really the OPC button.

The following file is updated to only include buttons that you have confirmed work (I put "Mini Guide" on the ENTER button):
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=25355

The following zip file contains 3 more PL bin files. Each of these bin files contains button codes that we haven't tested yet, so don't expect any of them to do anything, but test all the buttons to see if you get a response. If any of the buttons do do something, please report back which button it was and which file it came from.

Right click on the remote image to pull up the Custom Button menu.

Dear Rob and Alan,

I am sorry. I do not know how to bring the Custom keys up.

I am on macOS Sierra and I have tried now in two separate computers following Alan's recommendation of RIGHT-CLICK on the remote and nothing happens. Right-clicked on buttons, on black areas of the remote, and nothing comes up.

Is there another way to bring it up?

Thanks in advance and I apologize for the inconvenience of being a newbie in this field.

The Cable Box is in Mexico and I do not have it with me physically speaking. I have pictures of it from my brother who sent me those pictures, but I cannot test the box with the real remote in my hand and the box right in front of me.

So far, I have been able to test the remote *.bin files you guys have programmed from here in the States, but I have a hard time coordinating with my brother to actually him being sitting in front of the box and me on the other end testing the system.

Again, I apologize for not been able to pull the Custom buttons on my screen.

Let me try tomorrow on the Fire TV and see if something different happens using that interface.

Another thing I noticed is that the HD channels are in the 1000's. Every time I try to input... let's say 1249, it only reads 124 and changes the channel. If I want to go to these HD channels, I have to key in 1111 and then Channel Up until I get to the 1249. Fortunately, on the Fire TV, there is part that saves the previous channels and I can go to them, but 8 out of 10 times, if I want to go to 1249, it takes me back to 124. I do not know if this behavior is due to the lag in the internet connection... I doubt it, but we tested the speed and from Mexico is 79 Mbps download and 75 Mbps upload. Which the latter I believe is the important one on the sending end. Here in the States we are with 97 Mpbs download and 105 Mbps upload. Again, I do not think is a lag thing, but who knows.

The main point here is how to see those Custom buttons and test them. I will keep trying and get back to you with my results.

Thanks gain!

Balperro

I created the other bin files so you wouldn't have to use the custom buttons.

Not your fault, it's Sling. They never really liked the Mac and didn't spend much time on the player so it has quite a few bugs. Are you using the standalone version ? If so try www.newwatch.slingbox.com. Or use the mobile version on your phone, they allow access to the custom buttons.
