I have very much comfort from the timed macros in my old URC-5550, so I can turn off those power greedy cable boxes I have.
One thing that has been nagging me, is that the macros look weird after being added. E.g. I add a daily macro and the keys "SAT", "9", "3". After pressing OK the macro appear as "(", "9", "3" on the list. The macro works fine.

This is an issue of the RDF.
Open the RDF via the notepad and go to the [Buttons] section.
Look for the names like "(T8)-PIP{Freeze}" and change them to "@PIP{Freeze}". Both versions means, that this are buttons only from the URC-8550, but the "@" version will show your timed macros properly.

Great. That did the trick.
Cheers,
