No, there are two codes sets used by all Roku tv brands. TCL, Insignia, Philips, Haier, Hitachi, Element,Magnavox, Westinghouse, Sanyo, Jvc, and Onn Roku tv brands all use the same code. Which mostly match the old Admiral code 10463. Hisense and Sharp Roku tvs use Goldstar or LG code 10178. Actually Hisense and Sharp respond to both.

The only efc's that were the same for Roku and Roku tvs were the now gone 1, 2, and 3 keys which held voice search prompt, they no longer work because of upgrade to the Roku's. Sad

Most of the TCL Roku upgrades here use the Roku protocol with device code 234.199 (whereas the Roku STBs use the Roku protocol with device code 234.194). There is one TCL upgrade that uses the RCA-38 protocol with device code 15. My Insignia Roku uses the NEC1 protocol with device code 134.5. There's a Sharp Roku TV here that uses the Sharp protocol with a mixture of device 1 and device 17. So there different codesets out there. I haven't tested whether my Insignia also responds to this codeset but I will, maybe it responds to both.

As for the EFCs that you found, those equate to OBCs 246 thru 255. As the Roku protocol only supports OBCs 0-127, you have to subtract 128 from those values to get the true OBCs, which would be 118-127, or to give them as EFC5 values:

00189 - #1 (Rdio)
00193 - #2
00191 - #3
00195 - #4
00188 - #5
00192 - #6
00190 - #7
00194 - #8 (Instant Replay/PrevCH)
00061 - #9
00065 - #0

The codes for 1 and 8 appear to overlap with Rdio and Instant Replay. Maybe you could test the EFCs that I just listed to confirm that they also work the numeric buttons.

Rob did you read the PM I sent about the 15-1994 button repair insert on Ebay?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/264289033065?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

I bought one for a mx-900 remote which i never needed and still have. They get great feedbacks on these inserts. Back when I purchased it, they only had it for mx-900, bose remotes and some cordless phones.

I did see that, thanks for sending it. It's nice that someone is doing work to support these old remotes. The buttons on mine are holding up well, so I don't need one of them yet, but I do have several where the backlight doesn't work.

The official tcl or most other Roku tv brand's code in the OFA remote is 14398. They respond to codes 10463 & 12049 too. It helps when you have a very old TiVo remote being used with new Roku tv that you can just tell them to use the goldstar code for power and volume. I'm still looking for an official Roku tv code for Hisense and Sharp Roku tv that have boat load of efc's like code 14398 has for Tcl roku tv's. A tcl remote would control a hisense roku tv, but a Hisense remote will not control a tcl roku tv.

None of those efc's you listed work as numerals on my tcl roku.
00189 is rdio, 00061 is apple tv. 00065 exits the live tv tile where I am testing the efc's and just takes me to home screen.

As for non-tv roku's like the ultra or express there is no where you can test numerals, no antenna input or live tv tile. Only Roku tv's have them.

Someone had an old 15-1994 remote on ebay for $15.00, I simply clicked on it and later was offered it for $12. with $6 shipping. I had thought of buying it along with insert but decided not.

I get that a lot too, I just look at a listing and then I get a lower price offer. You should have grabbed that 15-1994, it's such a sweet remote. Well, actually, it's such an old remote, you'd definitely need JP1 to make it useful now.

Just so you know what those setup codes that you listed really look like, here's the breakdown (the first digit in your 5 digit codes, just tells me it's a TV code)

TV/0178 = NEC1 dev 4
TV/0463 = NEC2 dev 134.5
TV/2049 = NEC1 dev 134.5
TV/2371 = NEC1 dev 0.191
TV/4398 = Roku Official dev 234.199

Here are some other setup codes that might work for you.

Roku STB codes
Cable/3061 = Roku Official dev 234.194
Cable/5687 = Roku Official dev 234.194

Roku TV codes (just like your 14398)
Cable/4410 = Roku Official dev 234.199
Game /1151 = Roku Official dev 234.199

It turns out my Insignia TV does also respond to this codeset, so I have some experimenting to do.

Thanks for codes. Remember in the beginning we had cable code 2371 for roku, then roku released a new remote with keys not in that setup code. I sent you the remote and you found it was using a new code not in any remote yet. What we need is to someone get a hold of Hisense Roku tv IR remote and see what code it is actually is using? Learn and decode the discrete channels keys on said remote. See if there's an actual official Hisense Roku tv code out there? I have said remote to ship? Smile

As you found out that insignia uses the same code as TCL Roku tv's, so we know plenty about that code and its efc's. Its Hisense and Sharp Roku TV code that we are in the dark about.

There are some Hisense Roku upgrades in the file section, so I can answer that question for you. I'll get back to you on that tomorrow.

Plus, I might re-program my 15-1994 to use the Roku code instead of the NEC1 one as it looks like it has a few extra discrete app codes (like Amazon Prime) that might be useful.

Right now, the Hisense Roku tv's respond to two completely different code sets, say in the future they need more room for upgrades and second code set goes away and it only responds to code that matches the oem Hisense remote? I would like to have an answer for them in that situation.

If any of those Hisense Roku tv files doesn't control your Insignia Roku tv, then that's what I'm after. Smile If so, I would like to know is there a matching tv code in such remotes as urc-7880 or interset 422-3?

These additional EFCs are duplicates of existing functions:

00224 - used to be CinemaNow (shut down Aug 2017)
00130 - used to be Deezer (left Roku Sept 2021)
00099 - used to be Google Play (left Roku April 2021)
00019 - used to be Fandango (dup)
00002 - used to be Fandango (dup)
00109 - used to be Walmart
00223 - PlayStation Vue (no longer available)
00189 - Rdio (no longer available)
00014 (OBC 1)
00016 (OBC 2)
00143 (OBC 13)
00207 (OBC 29)
00205 (OBC 31)
00243 (OBC 36)
00237 (OBC 39)
00176 (OBC 58)
00094 (OBC 81)
00092 (OBC 83)
00227 (OBC 92)
00225 (OBC 94)
00003 (OBC 100)
00253 (OBC 103)
00062 (OBC 113)
00060 (OBC 115)
00063 (OBC 117)

Rob, that's great. Two of efc's that did nothing on your Insignia, because it's too old, are 00061- Apple Tv, and 00135- Zoom for Kids. Smile

Are you saying that some new codes can be added and some can't? How come I can get other new codes but not those two, or do I need to force a refresh or something?

What about the numeric buttons, how come you cam up with a different list of codes for those?

See it's up to Apple tv what models of Roku get their app, my nieces 55" Insignia doesn't get the apple tv app either.

Funny but I didn't search and found those numerals, you did. You listed the efc's for tv code 10463 in a post sometime ago. I just copied them to post at Roku community and bookmarked them for future use. Those with Comcast remote and such have used them to get more control of the Roku tv than just power and volume.

Do you know anything about these codes? Are they old ones that are no longer used, or are they also just apps that my TV can't get?

00224 - used to be Cinema Now
00130 - used to be Deexer
00098 - used to be CBS News
00099 - used to be Google Play

Never mind, I searched and see that 3 of them have either stopped service or been removed from Roku.

Cinema Now is defunct went out of business. Google turned off Google Play on Roku last June. People had to go to You Tube for their purchased movies and tv shows. CBS News works fine on my Tcl Roku tv. Deexer efc just has my tv go to the home screen.
