Hi folks. I'm still here. Just watching all the magic happen. When I get home today will test this out. Note with the comment on the NUC and IR. There are known issues with the IR port disappearing in Windows and in other OS's requiring you to install Windows to "activate" it. Sounds weird but what's showing on Intel forums. I've experienced this once or twice with the IR port going away which may totally mess up my project if I can't have a reliable IR port.

FWIW, an external MCE IR dongle should be 100% reliable, assuming your NUC has a free USB port. I ran one for years without issue.

Not to deviate the original convo, however will an external dongle allow you put the device asleep or wake up, and if physically off, turn it back on? I know my NUC has a "yellow" USB port for charging when off or on if you have it enabled, but not sure that any of the ports are physically active when the device isn't on like the built in IR is supposed to be.

I did get my NUC's IR sensor up and running. It took a long time to find the right kind of post because all the searches I was doing ended up talking about what kind of remote to buy. Hopefully the answer soon will be a JP1-able remote.

Don't bother testing the mouse, there is a problem with the right/left portion of the command, Up Down mostly work except you get exactly 3 presses of the button, I need to change the repeating portion of the protocol. But I've got an error in the code when it comes to Right-Left, none of those keys work correctly.
Right Click works (although I got right and left click backwards)

On the keyboard I tried
abcdefghi
A e and g don't work. These are encoding problems and need to be fixed in the executor.

I'm going to work on the mouse first and see what I did wrong on those commands in the protocol there.

So I see that I need to revisit these.

Maybe I should split this to another thread: seeing that you have solved your Intel NUC problem, I would like to know more. I have an older Intel mainboard with onboard CIR, which worked fine under Windows 7 with the NUC / Nuvoton driver. About the time Windows 10 was released, the CIR I/F stopped working, and I suspect a Windows Update as the culprit a search of various fora tends to conform my suspicions. I performed a clean installtion of Windows 8.1 and tried various tricks to install the NUC / Nuvoton driver without success. Windows insists on using its own HID driver, which leaves the CIR I/F inactive. Others have reported similar experiences. How did you get your NUC IR to work?
If all else fails, I would consider upgrading to a newer NUC mainboard (assuming there are any that still provide a CIR header) and Windows 10 or 11).
