|

Hi all,
I need to buy a new TV, and I've all but settled on a TCL P series. Of course, before I buy anything with a remote control, I check here for upgrades. I see four TCL upgrades, and they all seem a little different. TCL 40fd2700 Flatscreen TV uses the RCA-38 protocol, TCL L32HDF11TA uses a manual protocol, TCL LE55FHDF3300Z uses a manual protocol, and when I try to open TCL LE55FJDF3300Zm RMIR throws a file load error: No protocol found with name "RCA-56", ID=02 30, and variantName="". I'm running RMIR 2.03 build 12.
There is no upgrade for the P series that I can see, but I realize that most of the time most models of the same brand use the same codes. Of course, I could just use my learning remote, but I'm uncertain how that might work given that some of the published upgrades use a manual protocol. I'm wondering if I'll end up over my head trying to make this TV work with JP1.
Thanks in advance for any advice. |

Here are all the latest official TCL upgrades from UEI. Open this file with remote master, then go to the devices tab and edit then save each one as a different file. Typically the higher the setup code number, then newer the upgrade, so try those first.

If your JP1 remote can learn, I'm confident we can build an upgrade for you if the ones above don't work, even if it turns out to be a new, custom protocol. |

Ed, if you have a JP1 learning remote, go ahead and buy whichever TV you like because, even if it will take some advanced JP1 skills to build an upgrade (which I highly doubt), we will do it for you, just post the files of learned signals.
I haven't looked at those "manual settings" upgrades, but I bet that they're older and could be re-created now using a standard protocol. _________________ Rob

Will do, Rob. Now all I have to do is go out and buy the TV! Thank you.
