I have the same problem with my Xsight (URC-8603 XSight Touch) that used to work fine with EZ-RC website, but I get "Error downloading from remote" message with Remote Master.
I noticed there is a dedicated RDF file in the directory. Yet, whatever protocol I try, It doesn't download anything.
Please HELP

Thank you

I need your help, as I am clueless!

I have an Xsight touch URC8603 that used to work fine with the EZ-RC site. But since that is dead, I wanted to find an alternate solution to manage my remote.

I tried several versions of RemoteMaster software, including the last one RMIR204build35, but none of it could download anything from the remote. I am running Windows 7 64-bit SP1.

At some point I could only download RAW data, but otherwise, whatever connection I select, it doesn't find my remote.

So, can anyone please help me with this?

Thank you!

Please post the rmaster.err file that you will find in your RMIR installation folder after a download attempt. That contains diagnostic info that may help us to identify the problem.

Haven't looked at the file yet, but this is typically caused by the folder you put RM in. Make sure it's one that has write permissions.

I had trouble with this just yesterday. I didn't have my path set correctly.

These are my steps.

I downloaded the current released version (14) that had everything in it,
Run Setup.VBS to let your system know how to open RDMU and RMIR files.
Then unzipped Version 35 and moved the new files to the appropriate location in the RMIR folder.

Then in the RMIR menu to the File> SET DIRECTORY> RDF Path and point to your RDF folder.
When you are done with that go back in and check that you really did set it. The RDF folder should be highlighted .

Then set the image path
File>Set Directory>Image path.

mediawiz,

Remote Master seems to think you have a Monster 200 remote instead of an Xsight. You definitely need to start with version 14 instead.

I followed your steps exactly. I get the same error "Task Error / Error downloading from remote. This may well be the result of a bug in the RMIR software...."

Could you upload the rmaster.err that you got this last time, to our Diagnosis Area folder please, then post a link to it.

Mediawiz, from the error file you posted, it appears that you have the interface type set to JP1 USB. Go to Remote > Interface on the menu bar and change it to Auto-detect. You may think that JP1 USB is the right interface for a remote like the XSight Touch, but it is not. Let RMIR find the correct interface.

Dave (mdavej), the part of the file identifying the remote as a Monster 200 is because he seems to have loaded the MonsterTest1.rmir file in the build 35 package, despite using build 14 for the test that error file refers to.

MW, did Graham's tip below fix it for you?

No, I tried all the setting options, starting with Auto, with no result.
