I need to build a slingplayer remote file and I was hoping I could buy the receiver and use Tommy's software to do so.

Thanks.

The thing in the first post is a piece of hardware/firmware designed by Kevin Timmerman, originally presented here.

To my knowledge, there is no such thing as (published?) software by Tommy Tyler. In the link, Tommy gives an, IMHO, quite biased view on who wrote what.

While Kevin always made his work public, (source as well as circuir diagram and Eagle files), the same cannot be said about Tommy's development of the original design.

Assuming that you ask about how to use the IrWidget, there are two programs: IrScope, and and IrScrutinizer.

Hi
Have you tried post a request at slingbox sub-forum?
Sometimes expert there could help you build a bin file with only the name and maker of your stb/device.

Also, in the case that you need to build it on your own, you have several options, including buying a jp1 remote like urc-6440, nevo c2, and so on.

Finally, you can buy an usb ir widget or ir toy v2.

If you have a jp1 remote, you need software called rmir and if you have ir widget or ir toy v2, you can use irscrutinizer or irscope and remotemaster( part of rmir)

I hope this gives you a head up.

We also have the Slingbox forum here for the same purpose. In either case, it will probably be Alan Richey who will sort it out.

Pardon? The only place I can see any stated authorship for the IRScope software is in this link that Tommy gives. That link states that IRScope's authorship is Kevin Timmerman, revised by Graham Dixon (i.e. me). There is nothing biased about that, it is perfectly correct and IRScope development has had no input from anyone else.
