I have a new TV LG42LD450N, which has a built-in media player via USB, I have tried to unlock this usb, but not succeeded. I have a one for all remote, as I programmed the remote with code 0178 for LG. I programmed all for one remote to get into the TV menu, the code to enter is 0413, then I am in the menu, but I think it is wrong menu, because I will not go into az adjust, only adjust check , does anyone know the code to get to az adjust???? Please
Best regards Kalle

Please read the first few posts in
this thread . Then, if it still isn't clear, ask again.

People will need more details to help you
1. What all for one remote do you have?
2. What is ez adjust?
3. What is adjust check?
4. Is LG42... a television?
5. Are you trying to control television?
6. What do you mean "to hack my usb"?

Elizabeth the EZ Menu USB hack is for certain models of EUROPEAN LG TV's. It can turn SOME LG TV's into HD Media players via the USB service port. There is a wiki about it here
http://lgusb.wikispaces.com/.
Apparently this can be dangerous and brick the TV if the firmware or model is not the right version. We are not experts on the hack, but we can get the remotes to shoot the appropriate signals. For technical questions on the hack itself, such as what models and firmware is required, the users need to go to an LG forum or wiki. We don't know the answers here.

If it helps (or not), I have an LG42LD450 and am NOT planning to hack the USB. It appears too risky/difficult to reverse and I just don't see the benefits with media players being so cheap now. I have suspicions that the LG42LD450N comes with a different firmware version, anyway.

ditto
different LG here but don't bother - you can put a $25 PBO/Noname medaia player on it - why risk breaking your nice TV.
Yes, I know, we voyage where no man has gone before, but y'know...

Are you reading those instructions correctly? FIRST you need to enter a four-digit Setup Code that will allow the usual buttons to operate your TV. THEN you can start to try to enter the service menu by trying the Magic codes.
NB - I do not know if those hacks are safe to use or if they will work with the ...-ZA version of this TV as the firmware might be different.

Just to highlight, tco99 followed UQs advice and got it to work.

hey guys, hope you can help here before i throw either the tv or the remote out the window.
Im trying to configure a URC-8308 to my lg 32ld450 tv.
I can get the tv to respond to the remote using the 0178 code to change the channel and volume etc.
THEN i try to program a key to enter the setup menu for the divx function and get nowhere.
These are the steps i have been told to follow:
1. Press and hold the MAGIC key for about 3 seconds. The IR indicator will flash once , then twice and the screen will change to the setup screen.
2. Press KEY MAGIC.
3. Press and release the TV key.
4. Press the MAGIC key once.
5. Enter the 5-digit function code .. in our case 00018.
6. Press the key to which the function will be assigned .. here I used the *I* key down the bottom of the remote. The IR Indicator will blink twice and the screen will return to the Setup screen.
7. Press ESC now to get out of Setup and that should be it!
Now all that works fine and the remote does as it says.
But then when i press the assigned key it does NOTHING, no menu appears on the tv at all to be able to enter the password etc.
Whats going wrong, have i missed something stupidly obvious?
Any one who can get this working will get some really good internet bonus points

We've
seen before that some 8308 firmware versions don't handle keymoves correctly. In another thread involving the 8305, which appears to be similar, OFA told the user that R00 and R01 versions would not accept keymoves.
Look in the battery case and see if you can identify the specific model. It may be worthwhile to query OneForAll to see if the remote is capable of accepting keymoves.
They also may be able to offer you a modem upgrade which can send the needed signals, if you tell them the EFCs (like 00018) and setup code (0178)

ive also tried the urc-8204 and get exactly the same problem. Its like the tv isnt set to accept the 00018 command or am i completely misunderstanding the way these things work?

That's a kameleon, correct? It uses a different method to enter EFC's than other remotes. See
THIS thread. It's also possible it uses 3 digit EFCs instead of 5. If so, drop the leading zeros.

It could be an actual problem in the firmware of the remote, or the TV is different.
Let's try to find out if it is the remote (or a wrong procedure) by trying to send the EFC for a function that we know works. The EFC for Vol+ is 00183. Test this by 1) tapping Vol+, and seeing that the volume goes up. 2) Tapping Magic and quickly entering 00183. When the last digit (3) is tapped, the remote should send Vol+ to the TV. 3) If that works, try to assign 00183 to the I button. If now tapping I makes the volume go up, the remote is functioning as expected.
