Where do you get that from? If you are using the latest preview version, all remotes except JP1.1 should be fully supported.

What's currently working in the prototype:
* Import a .IR file (just like RM can import a KM .txt file )
* You can load and save .RMIR files (I'm open to other suggestions for the extension)
* You can download only from a JP1.1 or JP1.2 remote.
I didn't read all 26 pages, I was just reading enough of the thread to try to find out where the file was so I could take a look. Reading that my remotes were not supported made sense to me when I couldn't save any of the RMIR files.

Vicky, did you look at the date on page 1 of this thread? It is all from 2006

. A lot changed even before my involvement a few months ago, but one thing I have been doing is making sure it works with as many remotes as possible. Mine, for instance

.
What are the remotes that you find you can't upload to, or save from?

I have tested a lot with downloading from my JP1 remote (URC-8550) and have just tested a download from my JP1.3 remote (URC-7940). All work fine. Or perhaps you mean "you can only download, not upload, from a JP1.1 or JP1.2 remote." JP1.1 remotes are not supported, or at least not fully, and I cannot comment on that. I can certainly upload to my JP1.2 and JP1.3 remotes.

Oh!
I tried 4 remotes and I could download from them all, but since I couldn't save I sure didn't want to try to upload.
10820N even with a 981 JP1.2
Comcast 1067A JP1.2
Comcast 1067B JP1.3
URC7800 JP1
The other remotes could have conditions that RMIR doesn't like. I know it hated my extended remotes. But these were just remotes in various states.
All downloaded nicely, but saving just creates an empty file.
I'll read the documentation, more carefully to see if I did the install right. Since its not just a JP1.2 issue.
I am having trouble with jiggling screens, and fields not updating when I make changes. There are a number of things going on, but since this is just a preview I don't know if I should report these as errors, or just be quiet and observe.

Just checked back in for the first time since Saturday afternoon, and I see there's been a ton of active discussion here. That's really great.
I haven't read any of it yet, and it's going to be a couple more days before and I really have time for this. I'm not ignoring the conversation, just really busy.

I'm pretty sure they welcome the feedback. At least none of them complained about my input, while they were implementing the request for
Slingbox XML imports for RM-IR. In fact they went from v1.99c-preview2 through v2.00-preview3 to satisfy most of the needs. The only pending issue was the differentiation of RM-IR detecting nothing while IR was able to make partial matches.

Definitely report any bugs/feature requests! My earlier comment was just to make sure everyone knew it wasn't expected to be perfect, but WHY it isn't perfect should still be reported.
You may want to check the list here to see if someone else already reported it, but even then it doesn't hurt to mention it again.

So I just tried preview3. Considering 27 pages and several years passed, I'm no longer sure what to expect in RMIR. For example, should I or should I not expect a good download from 8910 extended? I'm using USB cable with Tommy's little adapter for jp1. Works perfectly in IR, but looks a bit goofy here. I can post few details depending on your answer.

Yes - it should work! You should also be able to open the .ir file. If neither works, upload the .ir file... This is one of the remotes I use...

Look at the error log. RMIR hates extenders, but at least it tells you why.

xnappo, you must be so frustrated by all of us coming out of the woodwork
I tried it twice, and have a log. Some bunch of exceptions.
I actually wanted to see what's in this remote. What I got is General tab ok, then all the others are empty till Devices. There is no protocol number, so on the protocols tab I have no clue (well, a little) which device protocol goes with what device. I did not open .ir file, that's not the point of this exercise.
IR file I just downloaded from 8910

Hates extenders? Since when? I've used it before for a short time, long ago. Don't recall any issue on the extender side.

I just ran RMIR, open the .IR file I just saved and this time all RMIR tabs are empty. End of experiment.

I only tried it for the first time yesterday, so I can't tell you "Since when". My remotes that had extenders generated a boat load of exceptions.
I am going to have to put on my "Elizabeth hat", and generate some well documented error reports. It seemed like everything I tried was broken, much like my first attempt to use RM years and years ago. Now I like RM, so one day I'm sure I'll like RMIR too, but right now........

I wouldn't say RM-IR hates extenders - I use the 8910 and Atlas extender with it all the time.
However - it does not like incorrect RDFs or 'strange' data in the remote. This is slowly getting better but needs examples like both of yours to debug. So please upload any .ir file that does not load properly into RMIR.
