All the info is in the first post of this thread. In order for a remote to control a PC, you will need some sort of attachment, these usually come as a "kit" with a USB plugin and a remote (like the Streamzap). If you have such a kit, you can program your JP1 remote to work it.

I do have a Hauppauge 150 MCE with the remote and the receiver.
Will your remote work with this receiver and control TV, XBOX 360 and Tuner?
Will the Streamzap control all of the above and be programmable?
What I am trying to accomplish is haven only one remote to control everything.

Luis,
A JP1 remote can be made to replicate ANY IR remote, so yes, one of my remotes can replace all of your remotes (assuming they're all IR, not RF).

Now, I can't guarantee that we have upgrades available for every device that you have (it's up to you to check the file section). However, if you buy a learning remote like the URC-8910, you will have the ability to capture the signals yourself and then use that info to build a new upgrade (in the event that we don't have an upgrade available).

We're here to help with the process of building new upgrades.

Hi Rob,

I've bought a couple of remotes from you a few months ago, and I'm enjoying using them as much as programming them via the JP1 Interface (With A LOT of help from you and other members in these fora...)...

I don't want to think what i'll do to command my HT System if my JP1 Remotes fail, and I'm thinking to get a backup unit at least...

I see you have a 9964 listed in the available remotes' list in the first post of this thread...

I understand it is actually a 9960 with RF capabilities... can you tell me if it is a B01 version? Is it new? And, finally, what kind of base unit does it have? The old, bigger one, or the newest, smaller and more stylish one?

I may decide to get that unit, but need to know before...

Ciao Rob, and thanks for your attention

All URC-9964 are called "B00", but they are equivilent to the URC-9960 B01. (ie, there never was a version of the URC-9964 equivilent to the old URC-9960 B00 remote).

These remotes come with the new slimstyle base unit with the seperate power adapter.

I have removed the remotes from their original blister packs so I can ship them easier, but they are otherwise like new.

Rob (and anyone who wants to chime in)...

I'm looking for recommendations among your current JP1 offerings (excluding the Kameleons, which don't appeal to me):

JP1 Ready Remotes:
URC-8910 - $19
URC-6131 - $19 (mod)
URC-8011 - $19 (mod)

For years, I've been using Radio Shack 15-2116s in each room which has a tv, but I'm ready to replace them. The equipment that I need to control is:
-- TV: Sanyo / Sony / Sony
-- Rcvr: JVC RX809VTN (very old) / na / na
-- DVD: Philips / Philips / Philips
-- PVR: ReplayTV 5040 / ReplayTV 5040 / ReplayTV 5040

I can't find any details on the size of any of these. In the pictures, they all look the same size. Obviously they all cost the same. It seems like the 8910 would give slightly more bang for the buck. Since I have a JP1 cable, I'd prefer to stay with a JP1, as opposed to a JP.x remote -- unless the JP.x are demonstrably better.

Thanks in advance for all recommendations and feedback.

All of those devices can be programmed to each of the remotes you list readily. Each also has pretty good extenders if you are so inclined to enhance the programming.

The 8910 is about the same dimensions as your 2116. The 6131 and 8011 are both somewhat shorter - considered by some to be easier to handle with one hand (at the cost of a few buttons).

Your call what is more important.

To my knowledge, there is currently no obvious advantage to JP 1.x remotes except that some have much greater memory capacity, which can be a problem in complex setups in JP1 remotes. On the other hand, support for the JP1 remotes is more mature - more reliable interface, tools (slightly) more ready for prime-time. But they are developing rapidly.

Again your call.

I have three 8910s and three 8820's (JP1.2 but similar dimensions to 6131). I used to think that the 8910 couldn't be beat as I got it to do so much so well . l now prefer the 8820 as it is noticeably smaller and lighter. The 8910 has an LCD display and its keys light up but I still prefer the 8820 due to its lightness and ease of handling. Sounds like the 6131 (JP1 predecessor of the 8820) more than meets your needs unless you want a remote with buttons that light up.

If the 15-2116 is your current remote, the URC-8910 is probably the most similar in terms of size and features.

Hi Rob , what would the cost be to ship 4 x URC6690 and a JP1.2/3 serial interface to New Zealand

Does the 6690 have the black back like the 8820 (I like the quality of this range of remotes) is it also a similar size

What do you think of the 6690

I am a big fan of the 7560/7562's but UEI finished production of these some time ago

Cheers Robert

I only have 1 URC-6690 left and I'm out of JP1.x cables.

I've never used one, I personally prefer regular buttoned remotes myself. I could get some more, but it's a very slow seller, so I don't have any immediate plans to re-stock it.
