URC-9910

Robman,
If I bought a URC-9910, is it pretty simple to modify it with a 3/32" (2.5mm) to 1/8" (3.5mm) plug to except different IR flashers/emitters. I would like to get a triple emitter that would allow me to control my receiver, dvd player, and cable box. The reason that I want to do this is because I have a pretty small cabinet and I don't have room to place the RF/IR receiver thing in front of them?
Does this remote distinguish between what it sends out throught the flasher/emitter or does it send all of the commands that come in out through the emitter as well?
If I buy a 3/32 (2.5mm) to 1/8 (3.5mm) adapter, does it matter if it is mono or stereo? I wouldn't think so but I just wanted to check.
Thanks,

The changing of the plug isn't the issue, the problem with the URC-9910's internal circuitry is that it's set up in such a way that it only supports one IR blaster. However, there is a minor modification that can be made to the command center that will let it support up to 4 IR blasters. I've bought the parts to try out this mod myself, but haven't got around to it yet.
You can read up on it here...

Interested in getting into JP1

Rob, You sent me a link to this site from remotecentral.com. I am currently using a Sony RM-AV3000 remote and programming discrete codes into it with a Radio Shack 15-2142 so this is all new to me. I am interested in a JP1 RF remote and cable. I see that you sell the 9910. Does it come with the RF or is that extra? I use a MAC computer so I would need the USB cable. I do not have a serial port on the MAC. Is this the remote that you would recommend? Is programming this remote harder to do using a MAC and the USB cable?

I can help you with most of your questions:
(1) The 9910 is a fine remote. Very well supported by the tools here and has a very good extender (software extender - not the RF extender referred to below - read about extenders
HERE) as well, if you want to really stretch its limits;
(2) The RF extender is part of the package, not an extra add-on;
(3) As far as the Mac, all of the software tools here are written for PCs, but some work in virtual Windows environments on Macs. I'm not an expert on Macs, but
THIS THREAD seems to point a way ahead to using the software reliably on a Mac.

FWIW, the 9910 RF system would relay the same signal out locally and out the blaster(s) connected to the remote base. Unless you want to build a smart relay.

There's only the URC-9910 and the URC-9964 Kameleon to chose from, so yes, go with the 9910.

1. Do you have a photo of the JP1 USB Cable you offer for sale?
2. Are people using them successfully with Vista?
