for anyone looking to solve a similar situation check out this product

Interesting. So, the battery is the transmitter? So, what happens when the battery dies? You have to order to new one from them?

Hi
I built a wired remote extender/repeater out of a few simple parts available at radio shack. It does require both a wall-transformer for power and two wires going from where you want to point to the remote all the way to where you want the signal to wind up, but it works, doesn't need batteries, can go hundreds of feet, through walls, basically anywhere you can run the wire.
If anyone is interested in the circuit schematic, let me know and i'll post it.
