I download km 9.02 from the beginner's thread.

First of all, we're up to KM version 9.06, so where are you getting 9.02?
Lachlan wrote:I unzip it.
I open it.
I enable macros.
I switch the remote from the default 15-1994 to 15-2117/15-2116 in cell c-2. Cell F-11/12 still says 15-1994.
That shouldn't be happening, and does NOT happen in my installation. Does it do this REGARDLESS of what you change the remote type to, or is this only if you change the remote type to 2116/2117?

I d/l the logitech Z-680 device upgrade from here:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... ile_id=450
This switches cell c-2 back to 15-1994,
it SHOULD switch it (and F-11/12) to 2104
Lachlan wrote: so I switch it again to 15-2117/15-2116. Once again, cell F-11/12 remains the same 15-1994.
the same problem - should not happen, nor does this happen on omy installation

I click on the functions tab. All the functions are listed with their 3-digit EFC.
I click on the buttons tab and there are no functions in the functions column (F) nor any functions in the drop-down box for the buttons.

I close it all down without saving and start again

I open KM.
I enable macros.
I Load the z-680 upgrade.
This time, it changes cell c-2 and cell F-11/12 to 15-2104 on its own.
I change cell c-2 to 15-2117/15-2116, and F-11/12 changes too.
I click on the functions tab. This time it has loaded 3-digit EFCs, 5-digit EFCs, OBCs, and hex.
I click on the buttons tab. This time, the functions column is populated and there are functions available in the drop-down boxes for each button.

I don't know what was different between the first and second time trying it.
The behaviour in your second scenario is correct. I don't understand why manually changing the remote type from 1994 to 2116 before opening the 2104 file has the effect to make KM misbehave this way.

At this point were you prompted with a dialog box titled Security Warning? Or were you changing Excel's security settings directly?
I don't know what was different between the first and second time trying it.
That depends on the answer to the above question. If you got the dialog warning and selected Enable Macros, I can't explain the behavior you're describing. If you were changing the Excel security settings AFTER opening KM, they don't apply to any currently loaded spreadsheets. Closing and reopening would work.

In any event, I'm pretty confident based on everyone's input here that the problem is not with KM 9.06. I even downloaded a fresh copy myself and could not reproduce this problem on 2 different PC's.

I checked, it is v. 9.06. The only security box I get is the one that asks me if I want to enable macros or not.
