What about the physical position of the ir emitter?

At this point we need to figure out whether the SlingBox is emitting an IR signal, and if so what it is.

First, use a digital camera's LCD viewer to look at the IR emitter's when you press a button on the Sling remote. You should see it flash. Try this with your 8910 first so you get an idea of what it'll look like.

If you do see a flash, try to learn the IR signal being emitted with the 8910 and look at the decode to see if it matches the signals you learned earlier.

Let us know what happens.

I've tried learning the signal from the Slingbox's IR blaster and was never able to get it to work.

I don't think we're talking about the same thing when we say "ir emitter".

I was talking about the thing Rob is calling "the Slingbox's IR blaster".

the Slingbox's IR blaster doesn't flash .

I've received an email from one of the guys at Sling saying that he's having a problem getting an RC6 upgrade working also, so there may be a problem with the version of the RC6 protocol that's installed in the Slingbox. This will require further investigation.

A possible workaround would be to change the Slingbox RDF to remove the RC-6 protocol from the list of pre-installed protocols. This would cause RM to include protocol code for the RC-6 protocol in the .bin file. Maybe the protocol code installed would work better than the pre-installed protocol code.

To try this, edit the Slingbox RDFs and remove the 0058 entry from the [Protocols] section

Quick update: UEI has been changing many of their executors for bi-phase protocols, the main change being that they are calculating the bit-doubled binary for the fixed data outside of the protocol (a process that John Fine started). They have done this already with protocols like the ReplayTV protocol and now they have done it with the RC6 protocol.

The only JP1 remote that has the new version of the executor installed is the B01 version of the URC-9960 Kameleon, but all three Slingboxes have it, which is why the RC6 protocol was not working here.

We need to add a new entry in protocol.ini for this and update the RDFs to reflect which remotes have the new version.

I'm assuming that all JP1.2 remotes will have the new version.

I haven't had time to go through all of the new versions yet, but I did add support for the latest Replay version in KM v9.01, which has an extra fixed byte compared to previous versions. This version is used in the JP1.2 remotes and the 9960B01. I know that there are quite a few new versions of other protocols in the JP1.2 remotes that still need to be looked at. (I presume someone on the RM team will also add them to protocols.ini as I get them working in KM.)
