You're right, Rob, although DIY's marketpplace listing does not mention it, it's listed on
this page.

My Cox remote has the following inside of the battery compartment:
Next to the 6-pin connector, it says "JP 1.1" and "1003" and then Pin Numbers.
On the side of the compartment it says "URC-7820B00SA" and "09711" and "Z064004 A 000058 LF".
I assume that it is a Cox type 7820B remote. I plan to get in touch with DYIgadget.com and see if I can exchange the JP1 Parallel cable for a JP1.1 Serial cable.

Remote chart and RDF indicate it's really JP1.3 and learning. Can anyone else confirm?
If so, you should exchange for a JP1.3 cable unless you want to to the mod Rob mentioned. This is a pretty nice remote, with plenty of memory. Nice shape and key layout too.
See
THIS thread to test and see if it's learning. Learning will be very useful in JP1 programming.

I followed the instructions in the link to see if my remote will "learn", and it did not behave as the link suggested. Also, it is clearly labelled "JP 1.1" inside. Any further thoughts?

In that case I'd go for the JP1.1 and convert it to JP1.3 if necessary.

It's not the one we CALL the 7820B, because that is most definitely a JP1.3 remote (I'm looking at one in my hand right now). The one we call 7820 is a JP1.2 (but I don't who has seen that one) and a JP1.1 variant would be a previously unseen one, afaik.
After you get the JP1.1 cable, you'll have to do a download and an rdf will have to be developed.

Perhaps, try the SET-983 command to blink back the signature. Press and hold SET and wait for 2 blinks. Press 983. Then Press 1 for the first digit of the signature(count the blinks). Press 2,3,4 for the rest of the signature.

I have that exact remote. In fact, I made the RDF file for it (well, actually binky123 did all of the hard part). It's a JP1.2 remote and it's the one that is labeled as Cox URC-7820 here, not the JP1.3 "B" version. Even though it is labelled JP1.1, it is what we would call here JP1.2 because it uses HCS08 processor. There are a couple of remote models like that.

If that's the case, then ANY of the previously-mentioned vendors' JP1.X cable would work for you. My personal favorite is Tommy Tyler's USB version.
