Dell Media Center Remote & Receiver - RC6-6-32 Protocol

This is the JP1 beginners forum. There's no such thing as a stupid question in here, so post away, but this forum is just for JP1 users and people considering JP1, non-JP1 users please use the appropriate forum above!

OK, so if I have a new release of RM ready before you have a new release of DecodeIR, should I just use the entry I made above?

OEM2=28 D=43 Dell MCE 2005?
OEM2=28 D=00 Dell W4200

For Dell
D=0 for "advanced TV", 43 for MCE
I have tested the new DecodeIr that calls these "MCE" and uses D.OEM2 for device.subdevice. There are still a few issues I had half fixed in other protocols before I release that.

If I understand correctly, the D.OEM2 values we know are

4.15 --> Microsoft Media center
0.28 --> Dell "advanced TV"
43.28 --> Dell Media center
17.20 --> Pinnacle ShowCenter
15.11 --> Cal DVD Player
9.11 --> Cal Preamplifier

I also have a CCF file stanley-brown_ccf.zip that includes MCE:9.11 indicating it is some GoVideo device. But I can't tell which of the several GoVideo devices that CCF claims to support is the one using MCE and I don't trust that it's really the GoVideo device at all.

So, does all this discussion mean that if I've bought this remote, then I can program a JP1 remote with the codes discussed here?

I assume the relevent purchase is the IR receiver that comes with that remote. You have no need of the remote, but I guess they don't sell the IR receiver alone.

You can use JP1 to load an upgrade for that into any of the JP1 supported S3C80 chip remotes. I'm not sure about the old non-S3C80 remotes, but you probably couldn't find one of those anyway.

I think there is already an upgrade file posted for Microsoft's D.OEM2 values. In KM or RM now you can create upgrades for any of these D.OEM2 values using that manual mode protocol in KM or the RC6-6-32 protocol in RM and looking through threads on the subject (or asking an expert) how to translate the numbers for a given D.OEM2 value.

Shortly I'll upload the protocols.ini entry to go with the DecodeIr I uploaded yesterday to make creating MCE upgrades in RM simpler.
