I cannot see any light from the end of the IR cable in front of the device when I tap the Power button on Zaap remote or on the computer remote.

Is it possible that the defect in the sling box itself?

When I download the bin file it goes just up to 5% only and after that it disappear !!

OK, you are beginning to worry me now. Why would you expect the IR Blaster to show a light when you press the button the Zaap Remote ?

Don't you understand that the IR blaster is a transmitter that sends out the same IR signal as the real remote when you tap a button on the virtual remote ?

Have you tried installing one of the built-in remotes and checking if the IR Blaster lights up with that ? If it does it means the BIN file isn't installing correctly. If it doesn't light up then you know it is a hardware fault.

Have you tried resetting the Slingbox ?

Ok, Thank you. I hope that the hardware fault it's just the IR cable not the box.
I will let you know when I get the new cable.

I replaced the IR cable with a new one but still all the buttons are not working. The only difference when I press the buttons in the computer remote I can see the end of the IR cable flashing when I play back the camera.
I believe the bin file is not the right one.

I'm afraid everything I can do says it is the correct remote. Your only options now are to find someone who owns a Logitech Harmony remote or post the original remote to me. (Or do it yourself: http://www.hifi-remote.com/wiki/index.p ... r_Slingbox)

I have some questions please.
1- If I buy a new 500 slingbox is it still be the same problem?
2- Is it possible that because I am using windows 10 the bin file is not installing properly spatially I noticed when I download the bin file it goes just up to 5% only and after that it disappear !!?
3- Do you meant if I send you my zaaptv remote you can find the code and send me the bin file?

1. Yes, all Slingbox models use the exact same system
2. I doubt it. Most people in the world are using Windows 10 now. Although the 5% is odd.
3. Yes. I normally program my Logitech Harmony Universal Remote to 'mimic' the original remote and analyse the codes. I can't do that in your case as your model is not in the Logitech system. But with the original remote it is easy. Are they available on E-Bay ? That is often cheaper/easier that posting a remote.

We can test if you are making an error if I do it from my computer. If you want me to try just PM me your Sling logon details.

That remote is for the HD509N and we already have a file for that model, so I don't think buying the remote will achieve anything

No, I normally buy it myself. As I said that is often cheaper than shipping one to me as we are in different countries.

But as Rob pointed out, you have already tried that remote and reported it doesn't operate your box, so it's pointless buying it.

My offer to try and do it from from here still stands.

OK, tried it from here. You have a USA Solo so you need to use the PL BIN file. However, I am getting an error message when I tried to install it so I think there is a problem with your Slingbox. I would try a reset, even a factory reset and try again.
