I think it IS about 10 seconds. I tend to put the Projector input commands at the end of my macros. I don't even have a device button assigned to the projector. I use key moves to shifted commands on my HD DSS receiver for the few projector commands that I need. That way I don't have to keep switching device keys in my macro. The other added benefit is that no one can turn On or Off the Projector accidentally since no phyical keys exist
Since I have more than two devices with component inputs, I have a 4 position AV switcher for component video/optical plus coaxial audio and it occurs to me that I should switch all of my devices that way since it is instantaneous.
I had not considered it to take that long, but after trying it out tonight I think you are correct.
Since I rarely change inputs because of the AV Switcher, I was executing the macro that set everything up for the mode I wanted a second time if it didn't work the first time (and by then that would solve the problem).
