I know this is a very old post, but maybe my efforts will help someone?

I was able to get all my old parallel JP1 stuff up and running on my Windows 7 x64 PC. The key is VMWare Player. It's a free program. I'm running XP 32-bit as a guest in VMWare and it allows the guest OS access to the parallel port. My motherboard doesn't have a parallel port, so I bought one (32-bit PCI card) from eBay for $4.28 shipped. XP guest is able to access it with no problems. So far, no issues downloading/uploading to my old JP1 remotes.

Sure beats spending $30+ for a new cable.

As administrator, set the program to run in XP SR3 compatibility mode. Do this for all users and just to be safe, run it with administrator privileges. The port turns black and upload and download work like a champ.
Cheers,

I would like to take a shot at adding a parallel port interface to an old 15-2103. Any chance of photos and or instructions as to how you did it.

Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.
