Dreambox 800 TV codes

Post by LaptoniC »

Hi,
I have Dreambox which uses programmable remote control as far as I learned from following this link. I have LG Tv and the codes that I have tried to program dreambox didn't work. I would like to add LG codes to Dreambox remote if possible. I have found discrete codes of my TV in the following pdf file

I will appreciate any help. Thanks.

I have moved your thread to the code search forum. To help make the process of helping you easier, please complete the required code search template.

Just FYI, the IR codes are on page 115 of the PDF, however they just list the hex codes for each button, they don't say what the protocol is nor what device code(s) are being used.

Here's the upgrade file for your TV:

This upgrade uses NEC1 device 4, which matches TV/0178 so give that setup code a try.

I have tried to to use 0178 and it didn't work :( I did like this
1. I tapped TV button
2. Hold down the Setup button till it blinks 2 times.
3. I typed 0178 and tried to use controls and it didn't work.

I know that my remote works because I have another TV and I entered its code, it blinked two times. All the controls worked.

So what should I do next?

Most Dreambox remotes use setup codes which have an an offset of 30 compared to ordinary UEI remotes. So try 0178 + 0030 = 0208.

Unfortunately 0208 also didn't work.

Can you check if your remote supports the 983 signature blinkback function and if it does, can you tell us what the signature is

Here are the DreamBox remote codes. Apparently the black remote use a 3 digit setup code, listed on page 2 and following. The silver remotes use 4 digit codes (page 29).

The 4 digit code listed for LG is 0208.
The first listed setup code for 3 digit remotes is 001.

I don't know about Dreambox remotes, but normal UEI remotes indicate that a setup code has been recognized by blinking twice after the setup code is entered, and only blinking once if the code was not recognized.

I think my remote doesn't support this feature because it only blinks once after each number.

@3FG, I think my remote supports 4 digits. Because I have another Vestel TV and its code 0067 works perfectly. However every code that I tried for LG didn't work :(

0067 seems to confirm the offset of 30, because TV 0037 is a RC5 protocol, and the Lookup Tool lists Vestel as one of the brands that uses this setup code.

If the 30 offset is correct, for sure 0208 is a correct setup code for your TV. You could also try 1208, which should provide most of the functions.

I have tried 1208 and also it didn't work. As you said 0208 is the code. However when I enter that code TV button doesn't blink twice which means that it didn't accept the code. However when I enter 0067 TV button blinks twice to indicate that it works.

Most Dreambox remotes have TV/0178 (aka "0208) but there is one model that doesn't, and that model doesn't have any setup codes that use the right protocol and device code. If you do indeed have this remote, your only option is to get a cable and add the code yourself.

I guess I am the unlucky one. I borrowed my uncle's remote which is gray dreambox remote and it accepted 0208 code and it worked for my TV. I am not sure about the cable right now. Because if I buy new remote it will be cheaper than the cable. In Turkey remote is 19$.

Isn't there any option to replace codes of some working setup codes like 0067. Anyway, if I buy the cable how can I add the codes? Thanks.

Let's cross the bridge of teaching you how to use JP1 until when you get a cable, but suffice to say it's very easy to add the TV code.
