Save Upgrade in IR gives Error

Post by woh »

I'm trying my first upgrade using RM. I copied an Upgrade into RM, copied the upgrade with Alt-D (can't find the Copy button) and I get an error

I first had an error by putting in the Protocol ID as shown in the spread sheet '00 DE' I took out the space and got a different error. (there is nothing in the help file about entering the protocol ID)

Clicking on OK I now get a different error "Invalid character in Input"

I don't know if all that text is supposed to be copied or if the copy cmd expects me to highlight only the hex numbers. The image is of the last error. I have no idea if I got everything else correct. I pretty much used the upgrade as I found it for the Sony Blu-ray BDP Sx70

You need to read the KM version of the tutorial because you aren't using RM.

The copy button is the button in the top left corner of the Upgrade Code box. Ctrl-D is fill down, not copy. Copy is Ctrl-C.

You are attempting to paste the device Upgrade Code into Protocols in IR. You need to paste it in to Devices, not Protocols. After that, the next step is to copy and paste the Upgrade Protocol into Protocols in IR. You should not delete or change any of the text that you copy and paste. Leave all the numbers and spaces as-is.

KM is a great tool, but RM is more user friendly for beginners. You may want to give that a try next time. It has a picture of your remote so you can drag and drop functions onto the buttons.

Thanks mdavej, that worked. I think I am making real progress with the help from this forum.

I was reading the KM in the keymap-master-readme.txt file and the IRhelpfile. I confused myself. And jumped a page in the help file.

I should have said 'Alt-D' not Ctrl-D to copy the Device Upgrade code.
