One more question regarding the JP1 cable.
I think I am going to purchase one, and I would like to know exactly what I should order. Will I simply need JUST the Cable for JP1.2 or JP1.3, or are there other items that I should purchase at the same time?
Thanks,
SHMO

An extender is a JP1 hack that allows you to get more out of your remote. The extenders for the Comcast remotes, allow the macros to run faster, allows you to multiplex and they install with special protocols like LKP, Mulitplex.SHMO wrote:when you say the Comcast remotes have extenders, what exactly is that?
If you have some way to learn signals you can continue to use these remotes, no matter what equipment comes into your home, because you can READ the signals from the learned area with a cable. Also, you suggested purchasing the cable and the RCA remote. What would the benefit be with having the RCA remote? Is there things I would not be able to program into the Comcast remote with the JP1 cable? I am not looking to do anything really fancy, just be able to control the basic functions of my equipment.

We knew your equipment needs a subdevice of 126, for your power button, because somebody learned that signal and posted the information in the form of an upgrade.
While a learning remote isn't absolutely necessary, it does help if we don't have the information you need to control a specific function on you equipment.
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.
Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

You just need to buy a JP1 (Flash) cable in order to re-program your Comcast remote to fully control your Yamaha receiver.SHMO wrote:One more question regarding the JP1 cable.

If you would also like to be sure that you can also program all the devices that you might buy in the future, you would need a way to capture the signals from the new remote, if it turns out that nobody before you has posted the info here on the JP1 site. One way to do that would be to buy the RCA remote that Vicky recommended.
