Uploading to Remote

Post by vickyg2003 »

When I upload my IR image to the remotes, if my remote is pointed at my widget, the widget goes crazy acknowledging flashes from the remote. Do IR emissions during upload have any significance?

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Vicky,
I used to see that as well, lots of it. Not anymore. No idea why it did or now does not. No idea if significant.

The JP1.3 remotes have the IDC-6 TX pin tied to the same pin for IR signal output so it's possible pulses on the IDC-6 pin are causing IR signal output to be generated.

It happens with my URC-7781 every time. Doesn't seem to do any harm, so I've never bothered about it.

I was just wondering if there was anything interesting about it.

Dave posted something a while ago, about the new OEM remotes (directv maybe?) having interactive setups where the remote gets upgrades via infrared feedback from the set top box. Seeing all this flashing with the widget just made me wonder what it was all about. Now it just looks like a crossed wire so to speak.
