Try these. All are Sony device 16. Function numbers are at far right in the below table.
You can do this yourself using RemoteMaster (see Software forum), and this Sony page. For RM, you would select the Sony 12/15/20 Combo protocol, which according to the Lookup Tool (link at the top of this page) corresponds to Audio 1758.
Code: Select all
Aux/TV 65485 29
Video 2 65997 30
Tuner 07885 33
Video 1 08397 34
CD 08141 37

Sir - you must be 'Three Fingered Glove' I'm guessing? I earlier followed your post on how to correctly program Volume Punch Through on the RCA RCP05B and your instructions worked perfectly, correcting the wrong ones in the manual. Many thanks for that.
To test the codes in your response above, I did the following:
Switched on the Sony receiver
Hit the AUD button on the RCA remote
Hit the Setup button once (one flash of AUD) on the RCA
Entered the code
No luck, I'm afraid. This like test approach worked fine when testing Mdavej's codes for the Insignia NS-BRDVD3 Blue Ray DVD player after first assigning AUD to the DVD button, whereafter I committed them to the RCA's memory using the 994 function and assigning codes to specific keys.
What am I doing wrong? Also, what is the significance of the Sony device # (16) and the Function numbers (29, 30, etc.) in your response please? All I entered when testing were the five digit codes you provided.
Thanks.

You're doing everything just fine. I made a mistake. I've corrected my earlier post (I hope).
All IR codes contain a device number (think of it as an address), as well as a function code. Sony receivers use seveal different device numbers, but the basic stuff is usually device 16. Each button is represented by a different function number. You can see these device and function numbers in the above link.

Hmmm.
Still no luck. I am only entering the five digit number after hitting AUD->Setup.
For example, with the receiver on Video1, I try AUD->Setup->65997 to switch to Video2, but there is no result.

The lookup tool shows some weird device numbers for 1758. Change your AUD setup code from 1758 to 1058 and then try them again.
EDIT: Nevermind. If the power codes worked with 1758, then you're on the right track.

3FG - With the receiver on and showing 'Video1', 32713 turns the power off, and 32969 changes the display to 'Volume xx' where xx is a two digit number reflecting the volume setting.
I rechecked the device is coded to 1758 and re-input that code (AUD->Setup 2 blinks->1758) before running the above. I continue to have volume and power controls working on the RCA remote.
However, the other codes you provided earlier continue to do nothing.

OK, it looks like the device should be 48 instead of 16.
Each EFC is 4 less than the device = 16 EFCs

Mdavej - switching to 1058 results in the following:
2 blinks after inputting code from AUD button
Volume up but no volume down on the RCA
No power on/off on the RCA
None of the other codes from 3FG, above, works

3FG - I need some help understanding your last message. Until now I have not entered anything for Device Code (48 not 16 in your message).
Sounds like I may be missing a step?

No, I don't think you are missing a step. If you don't understand about the device numbers, that's OK. Or you could spend a little time looking at the link I provided.
Ah, now I see the problem. (maybe I should just get back to the work I should be doing rather than trying to rush through this.) I didn't actually subtract the 4. Try these.

3FG -
That totally works!
I now have input switching for the Sony STR-DE197 available on my RCA remote.
Very many thanks - had I not lost the original Sony remote I would not have subjected you to this torture.
Problem solved by your very capable and enthusiastic support. I do understand Device Codes but was uncertain whether I should be somehow inputting these. Thanks for clearing that up. I simply used the latest 5 digit codes you provided. Now I have to decide which buttons to dedicate on the RCA - nice problem to have.
Best regards,
Thomas

Re: Sony STR-DE197
Don't forget you can assign these to "Shifted" buttons.Thomaspin wrote: Now I have to decide which buttons to dedicate on the RCA - nice problem to have.
Best regards,

Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.
Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Shifted button
Pray tell - what is a 'shifted button' and what is the advantage of using one?
Sorry - I'm a bit new to the JP1 world ....
