The setup code you are using JVC/0074 is a JVC device 163 code.

So from this list of source type codes. Note that the USB source uses a different device # so we can't use it with this particular setup code.

Code: Select all

--Function -----------EFC --------Device
* source tv	117	163
* source dbs	203	163
* source vcr	121	163
* source dvr/dvd	171	163
source sirius
* source fm/am	059	163
- source usb	155	175
* source aux	164	163
Since your remote is a JP1.3 remote, the efc's are really 5 digit, so they need to have two 0's prepended to them.
Would I be asking too much for you to post the complete discrete code list from the above file? Everything you listed works for my receiver. So I am assuming that everything for EFC 163 would be correct.

Thanks.

I'm guessing this is a cousin of the Comcast 1067Bx3 (another cable JP1.3 remote)

If I'm correct, you'll be able to create any JVC codes that use devices 3 ,31, 67, 111, 163, 239

Check your manual and see if these codes are listed for your JVC equipment.

Audio/[3] 0074 JVC 163
Audio/[3] 0331 JVC 163
TV/[1] 0053 JVC 3
TV/[1] 0731 JVC 31
TV/[1] 1253 JVC 3
Video/[2] 0067 JVC 67
Video/[2] 0558 JVC 239
Video/[2] 0623 JVC 239
Video/[2] 0867 JVC 67
Video/[2] 1164 JVC 111
Video/[2] 1348 JVC 239
Video/[2] 1416 JVC 239
Video/[2] 1440 JVC 239
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

I did some searches based on all those terms but couldn't find the remote. Could you do me a favor and get the remote to blink back it's signature.

Here's how you do it:
1) Press and hold the SET button, 2 flashes
2) Type 983, 2 flashes
3) Type 1, count the flashes
4) Type 2, count the flashes
5) Type 3, count the flashes
6) Type 4, count the flashes

Note: no flashes counts as zero

The count of flashes from each of steps 3-6 gives us the signature. For example, if you get 3 flashes in step three, 4 in step five, none in step six and 5 in step six, the signature would be 3405.

I ran the test twice to make certain and got 3039 each time. Can't wait to see what my hidden message tells me. lol

You are correct in your assumption. I found exact cross reference for each of your listings.

If interested I can send PDF of complete setup code sheet from my Insight remote.

Thanks again.

That confirms that your remote is the same as the Comcast URC-1067Bx3 remote, as Vicky suspected.

You should be able to open this yourself, but here are the codes from that upgrade. Anything with a device of 163 you should be able to use, but there are no combo codes nor any setup codes that use device 175, so you can't implement those without a cable. If you use the lookup tool, choose Comcast 1067bx3 as your remote.

Ops, the discrete code for the down arrow didn't get copied in your cut and paste, could you please let me know what it is?

Thanks.
