Use the following:
Remote (Comcast) = URC-1067
Device = Sony STR-DH500 (but STR-DG520 uses the same remote)
Sony Remote = RM-AAU020
In Remote Master, open the Sony STR-DG920 AV Receiver.rdmu file.
Make the following changes:
Setup Code=1758
Protocol = Sony15
Device=48
Sony STR-DH500 & STR-DG510 Receiver, RM-AAU020 remote

I am a little confused about your question.
If you don't know what to do with the upgrade, simply change your remote to the 1067 exender, and then look at the button sheet to adjsut the functions to your liking, copy the device upgrade from the output sheet, and switch to IR and add the device upgrade. Assign the device number to a button on the general page in IR.
It sounds like this might be your very first time trying to do an upgrade, something you don't see often in an extender user. So I might be totally wrong here.I am totally lost as to the setup code/protocol code/device code to use for the Sony STR-DH500. I downloaded and Sony DG920 7ch A/V Recv.rmdu and thought that might be a good starting place. I've tried setup codes 0158 & 1758 (Comcast documentation) but am unsure what the Sony 12/15/20 means and the device/protocol codes to use.

I've been using the 1067 Extender for a while...a number of LKPs, macros, etc.
Here is what I did:
1. I had the remote configured for a Panasonic TV (TV-dev=1250), Comcast Cbl (BL-dev=1493) and a CambridgeSoundworks AVS550 Receiver (AUX-dev=0017). he receiver died so I replaced it with a new Sony STR-DH500.
2. I deleted all the AUX codes from my ir file, along with all macros, and the device itself.
3. Downloaded the Sony STR-DG920 7ch A/V Receiver.rdmu (only Sony receiver I found), went into Remote Master, deleted some button assignments and added ones for the Vol+,Vol- & Mute.
4. Copied it, went back to ir.exe for the ir of my remote (Comcast URC-1067 that I messed with in #1 above), added a device, copyed the stuff from Remote Master, and uploaded to the device.
5. Nothing worked on the Sony (all other stuff still works) so figured it was a device/protocol/setup code problem between the RemoveMaster file and the URC-1067 remote.
6. Tried a bunch of different settings and nothing worked. The docs talk about a Sony12/15/20 code with subdevices, etc.
Just not sure what to do..Sony 12 or 15 or 20, then what device code (Comcast has a Sony A/V setup code of 0158 & 1758), and what protocol code will work.
Hope that clears up at least where I am now. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I moved this thread to the Code Search forum and added the template to the original post (though I couldn't guess the answers to all the questions). I also added a link to the RM file being discussed, so people wouldn't need to search for it.
I'm puzzled why you think the DG920 is the only Sony receiver in the file section as there are tons of Sony receivers there.
Here are the Sony receivers:

Sorry about putting the Help request in the wrong place. It's been a while since I've been on the site and things have change a little.
Anyway. I saw all of the Sony devices and tried to pick one that was fairly recent. Many are from the 2004-2006 time frame and thought I'd have better luck with something in the 2008-2009 time. I had downloaded the DG700 but it was a text file rather than an RMDU file so I was not sure what to do with it. IR choked when I tried to copy pieces of it onto the Devices tab -- so I figured I hadn't copied the correct stuff from it and it was for a program I wasn't using. I'll look at it again and see if I can figure out where to go next.
If you have any suggestions, they would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Why did you delete the template that I went to the trouble of adding to your original post?
