First the thank you.
A few months ago members, especially Rob, on this site helped me update a 15-2116 for my parents who have Alzheimers and get confused by remotes (or forget how to use). It has proved to be bullet proof. Even when their grandkids or visitors mess with it. Thanks.
Now the question.
I work with a group at my church who have been fixing TVs primarily for elder members and/or folks in nursing homes to get the analog converters installed. I have run into a lot of folks like my parents who get in trouble or confused by the remotes. I have been looking at doing the same thing for them that I did for my parents.
Are there any recommendations for simple, cheap remotes currently available that I can program? (Preferrable with large buttons.)
I have tried to find some of the old RS remotes on various internet sites without success. Most times all I would need to control is a TV and the analog converter. In some cases there is also a cable box or miscellaneous equipment involved. And a lot of the stuff is really antique.
Thanks to members and a question

I like the Comcast remotes. I buy them on ebay for about used for $3. New for 6. They have a nice layout, they are attractive. I really like the remote. They have an extender which can bullet proof the remote or make it a pain depending on how you go about it. They are a cable remote, and unextended they really want to be a cable remote, which works great with those STB for over the air situation situations.

I would recommend trying to find a source, like ebay, for a cheap JP1-capable cable remote. Preferably one you can buy in quantity.
Then, regarding the programming. I would suggest that you use the Device Combiner to create a single upgrade that has the perfect mix of TV and STB buttons, then assign the upgrade to all of the device buttons, so even if they press a device button, it has no effect on the remote.
You could also go a step further and open up the remote and put sole electrical tape under the SETUP button, so they can't accidentally change the programming.

I took your comments and went looking for Comcast remotes. Several ebay offers and another site I checked had multiple Comcast 1057BG0's.
Looked them up in the chart of remotes and they show to be JP1.1. Several documents say that thse cables are not longer available but a couple of the supplier sites listed them. Am checking on that now.
Went to KM to see if it was listed. The 1057 is not listed in the drop down. It has Comcast 1058 and 1067A.
I am correct to assume that I couldn't use the 1057 with KM and need to keep looking?

Occasionally there is a guy on ebay that sells the BX3 comcast remote in bulk (box of 50) and they end up being about $2 each. It's a hell of a deal. I've seen him a few times.
Also, I like the Atlas remotes, they're also on ebay often, probably a few bucks more than the Comcast.
I do like Rob's idea of making all devices in a combiner and assigning them to all buttons. If you use the extender you wouldn't even have to put tape over the setup button since it doesn't do anything, other than shift things. you can even assign the shifft key to $00 and it'll always ignore shifted functions if you really want to get simple.
good luck
