|
|
I'm using a learning remote (URC-8910) to do a code for my Yamaha receiver (HTR-6060).Pretty much all the buttons have 122 for the device code except for the standby button which is 126.
How do I get this to work? I don't see where I can put a second device code.
The protocol is NEC1. |

You need to use the combo protocol. _________________ Rob

That combo only allows you to combine different sub-device codes, the main device code is fixed. You need to use the NEC 2DEV Combo. Enter 122 as "device 1" and enter 126 as "device 2" (leave the two sub-device fields blank, don't enter zeroes in them). Then when you enter functions, select "NEC1" as the style. _________________ Rob

So far so good... But how does it work? Since we don't assign the main device code by buttons, is this gonna transmit both main device code each time a button is pressed?
I can see that it will output a protocol upgrade. |

You can select the correct device code in the Dev.Sub dropdown. However, I just tried it and apparently it only works if you enter a sub-device code also.
Therefore, you should enter the device and sub-device codes as follows:
device 1 = 122
sub-device 1 = 133
device 2 = 126
sub-device 2 = 129 _________________ Rob

In NEC having no subdevice is the same as having a subdevice equal to 255 minus the device.
So if some software doesn't understand a blank subdevice, you can get the same result by setting subdevice to 255 minus the device. |

The original NEC format was like this:
device code
complement of device code
command code (OBC)
complement of command code
(complement means that all the 1s and 0s in the binary are reversed, which in decimal terms means you need to subtract the number from 255).
Then, when they started running out of device codes, they decided to re-purpose the complement of the device code as a sub-device code.
The combo protocol that you are using is designed to handle signals that have a sub-device code, but if you leave the sub-device blank RM correctly calculates the fixed data as the complement of the device code. However, there must be a bug in there because it doesn't then allow you to select the device code in the drop down, unless you actually enter a sub-device code.
Therefore, here's how I calculated the two sub-device codes:
sub1 = 255 - 122 = 133
sub2 = 255 - 126 = 129 _________________ Rob

Wow, thanx a lot, this is very interesting.
Indeed there is a bug with remote master because you really have to enter a subdevice.
As soon as I test it I'll let you know if it's working. |
