I am looking for a code for a universal remote UR5U-8820L to operate a Lenoxx Sound Home Theater System Model HT 3913.
I just stumbled upon this forum and am unfamiliar with JP1. I love tinkering with electronics so this forum will be of great interest to me. Finally a forum where I can ask questions about things I'm interested in. When your friends are not into the same sort of things as you it is difficult to learn new things. I look forward to being a part of the forum.

Looking for a code for a UR5U-8820L Remote

I'm not familiar with that remote, but I don't think it's JP1. Glad to have you, but in this case you may have better luck in the URC forum over at remote central. If you do get a JP1 remote made by UEI (OneForAll, Radio Shack, etc.), we can help you.

Thanks. Until today I had not heard of JP1 remotes and am doing some research to learn what they are. From what I've learned so far my remote may be JP1 but without some hardware. The remote does have the JP1 holes but no pins. If I open the remote can I look at the processor and find out if it is JP1? Also what kind of hardware would it need if it is? Maybe that question is not possible for you to answer without knowing the pc board.
The name on this remote is CLIKR5.

From this thread I came away with the idea that the Clikr5 was not a JP1 remote.
Warning, JP1-ing can be VERY addictive.

Just in case you don't have the manual for your Clikr5 remote, you can download one from here:

If anyone else wants to know what the remote looks like, there's a picture here:

If you want a JP1 remote and cable so you can join in the fun, I can hook you up. Read this...

If you don't have a parallel or serial port, you can get a USB cable from Tommy:

About the only one's you can walk into a store and buy today are THESE (15-133, 134, 135). Many other models are available online and in the market place forum on this site. The most popular one these days seems to be the Atlas OCAP available on ebay.

And remember, even if you get a remote in a store (like Radio Shack) you'll still need to buy a cable online, or make one yourself
