Let me ask Sling and get back to you.

In the meantime, if you don't want to upgrade and risk becoming a US model, go ahead and load the BIN file that you created

Rob
Thanks for everything. I'd still like to do it "properly" but thought I'd let you know the progress so far...

The installation of Slingplayer version 2 came up with SlingCatcher.spr as a remote file. I made a copy of this, uninstalled V2, re-installed 1.5, copied SlingCatcher.spr to the Remote directory and set things up with the .bin file. All appears to work, including the virtual remote.

I have just re-worked the upgrade that Sling provided so it's smaller now. So if you'd like to give it a try, I've created an RM version below that is pre-formatted for the Slingbox (you'll just need to change it from PL to RV).

Here's the RM version:

And just for reference, here's the KM version:

OK, before anyone asks.......

Location 1: Slingbox1 taking AV from satellite receiver slinging to.......

Location 2: ....SlingCatcher (output to TV) and Slingbox2 taking AV from SlingCatcher slinging to.......

Location 3 : ... PC / Slingplayer

You'd think it would be easy!
Lanza, if your still around, I have to ask this question about your configuration. You must have a reason for doing it this way but I'm sure I don't understand.

Why not have both Slingboxes at location 1?

Satellite receiver -> Slingbox 1 -> Slingbox 2 -> TV

The SlingStream is not perfect and video quality would be degraded at location 3 from what it could be.

Inquiring minds must know.

Still around...

I understand, but this will not being used for continuous viewing. The downstream, into the SlingCatcher at location 2, is the main viewing stream. Use of the local Slingbox at location 2, and the resulting upstream to location 3, will only be occasional and is more for, let's call it, "Remote Assistance" for the setup at location 2.

I suppose this is more of a Sling question than a JP1 question but anyway...

As already mentioned I'm using the C1281_RV.bin file with Slingplayer 1.5 to control SlingCatcher. If I ensure that SlingCatcher.spr is in the Slingplayer Remote directory then the SlingCatcher virtual remote is available for use, along with the default virtual remote.

What tells Slingcatcher that the SlingCatcher virtual remote is valid for this bin file? How does it know?
