OneForAll URC 8810 Died

Post by arnieg »

I was changing the TV code for my 8810 and then the 8810 died, ie. the red light would not come on when any button is pushed including setup.

I thought the batteries might be low so I replaced them with two new batteries. When I replace the batteries, the red light blinks twice but it still doesn't work.

I don't know if shorting any of the pins on the JP1 will cause a reset so I can make this work.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have a button trapped in the ON position.

It that ALWAYS the case when you get the red light blinking twice on a OneForAll URC?

I'm having that problem and I don't know if my URC has died or what...

If the red light blinks twice when you first put the batteries in, but after that the remote doesn't respond, then yes, it's most likely because you have a button trapped in the ON position. But I can't say that it's ALWAYS the case as there are just too many variables.

I assume you've already checked for trapped buttons?

After reading you reply, I went over the entire remote thoroughly and found a button that was stuck but was very hard to tell. There was some schmootz stuck in beside one of the volume buttons ;)

Thanks for the great info, as always!!!
