Cant find reason for wrong key code....

Post by pa911 »

I have a remote and learned the keys "3" and "4" .

The result was:

for key "3"
Protocol: RC5
Device: 8
OBC: 3
Hex: F0 or F1 or F2
Data: 17 23 0A 00 DE 8B 8C 31 21 33 33 32 30

for key "4"
Protocol: RC5
Device: 8
OBC: 4
Hex: EC or ED or EE
Data: 19 23 0A 00 DE 8C 8B 44 12 44 44 32 00

When I put this information into RM 186 to define a new device I get the following output:

... which I paste into IR to define the device.

When I now send this from IR to the remote the keys "3" and "4" are exchanged. I mean: I press "4" on the remote and get 3 and vice versa.

I have repeated this many times and still get the same error.

What is wrong here?

Is there an error in RM or IR?

If you did everything correctly as you suggest, then perhaps the rdf has those two button definitions switched. The only way to tell potentially is for you to assign OTHER functions to those buttons and see if they, also, get swapped. Also, it never hurts to upload the files in question (RM and IR) to the diagnosis area and provide links to them here accompanying any question you may have.

Good idea.

...and yes you are right, for this remote all key codes that I program on key 3 and 4 are exchanged.

Sorry, but I dont know how to upload and link the files.

Now I am worried if this happens to other remotes I programmed (eg nec1) or only to the RC5 protocol.

At the top of this (and every) page is a link to the File Section, go there and then navigate to the Diagnosis Area, then click on Upload to upload your file(s). Then return to that folder to find the URLs for the files that you just loaded, then 'copy' them and paste them into your post.

I haven't looked at your files yet, but there IS a 7556 RDF. Maybe that's the problem.

Make sure the RDF has this entry in the [Settings] section.
KeyMap=$015.5.1.0.0 (Standard;Alternate)

Within IR.exe, on the General tabsheet, under Other settings, check that Keymap shows Standard. If it is on Alternate, you will have the '3' and '4' digits transposed.
