Scientific Atlanta?
My neighbor has a Cable Co provided remote, (Scientific Atlanta Explorer 3 according to IR) and it has the 6 pin connector. We have been able to download the info from the remote to the IR program, but there doesn't seem to be a matching remote type in KM. Any help? Thanks

Nils,
If he downloads the remote and posts the raw code somewhere, can an RDF be created for him? Is that how the process works?
-Steve
If that is how the proccess works and I wanted to help, where do I go to read about how to convert the raw data to an RDF? or is this just something you get with years of experience? Thank You in advance!

Steve, you are correct that an RDF can be created from the download. The best way to get the knowledge is by searching this forum and the jp1 forum on the topic. There is a bunch of discussions on this that can get you started. Also helps to review the RDF specs that come with IR.usblipitor wrote:Nils,

When I opened this file, IR.exe automatically used the "ER10 (Sc Explorer 3).rdf" RDF, what problems did you have when you downloaded it?

The errors of my way in reading your post wrong was pointed out to me. I thought IR did not recognize it. I see now that IR does recognize the remote but there is no support for the Scientific Atlanta 3 remote in KM. I checked and that looks right. I also checked and RM does support it so that leaves you with two options. One is to see if Mark can add support to KM (unless I missed it there) or download and install RM which is in the required tools section of jp1 (link below my name)
I also have a couple SA Exp3 remotes. This is a sweet remote from the standpoint of something that feels good in your hand and is laid out well. I'd love to be able to get some additional functionality out of it.
I have taken some pics that I could submit for inclusion in RM. Currently RM uses the "Generic Remote" pic. Who should I send them to? I looked on SourceForge and didn't see any provision for submitting to the project.

You can e-mail them to me. The reason I still use the generic is because I could not find a good picture.TimH wrote:I also have a couple SA Exp3 remotes. The existing RDF indicates that this remote uses a 6805 processor. If that is true, we'll need to determine which of two types is used before proper support can be added to KM or RM.TimH wrote:I also have a couple SA Exp3 remotes.
One quick way to determine the type is to examine a protocol upgrade in the IR file. I looked at jbollt's file, but there are no protocols in it. TimH, do either of yours have any upgrades in them?
