Here's the bottom line. Test all of the buttons on the Yamaha remote to verify that they all do something, then learn them using your 15-2116. You probably won't be able to learn all of them in one go because you'll fill up the 15-2116's memory, so once the memory is full, download using IR and save the IR file, then clear the memory and start over. Save as many IR files as it takes.

Yamaha uses the standard NEC protocol so you should have no trouble learning or decoding the signals.

If you don't know what to do next, zip the IR files together and load it into the file section, then post a link and one of us will finish the job.

Here are the codes for my HTR-5790.
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=5856

To be fair, this was a ccf file and I went over the codes with my 15-2116 remote. Some of the functions, I have no idea how to access with my actual Yamaha remote.

I tried to to use NEC1 2Dev Combo but couldn't get it to work so I tested the 122 codes separate from the 126.

Do with it as you will and move to what ever is the correct area.

Try this...

I've only assigned a few buttons, so if it works you can assign the buttons that you need.

Rob, I couldn't get the file to work. Loading it to the remote gave me a memory error (Error displayed on the LCD of the remote). Also when reading it back, IR said it couldn't ID the remote type. I wrote a backup file and it was back to normal. Memory overflow problem?

All this was not my goal anyway. I wanted to control my A/V receiver via my Slingbox. I had numbers of problems, always ending up in no working control of my A/V receiver. Finally I took all four Slingbox IR senders and mounted them to a small piece of plywood and feeding the signals to my JP1 learning remote. I finally got good readings. All the codes being sent were for an Echostar satillite box. This was the first type of remote I had configured in Slingplayer. Finally, I gave up and deleted my Slingplayer software and registry settings. Reinstalled the same Slingplayer software and NOT running it. I installed the same two .bin files in the SBAV directory as before and assigned them to the TV tuner (I won't be using this input). Now I can control my receiver. I added back in my remote controls for my sat boxes and DVD. Every thing is working. I select the Slingbox TV tuner to control my A/V receiver and then select the actual input (sat receivers/DVD etc) with its remote.

This seems to be a problem with the Slingplayer software. Using the same codes and installing them on my RS 15-2116 always worked fine.

I also want to give a quote from the Slingplayer help file;
At this time, the Slingbox is not able to control devices like stereo or A/V receivers. If you tried to connect your Slingbox to a stereo/AV receiver, you will need to connect it to a single television source device, such as a DVR or cable box.
JP1 makes many things possible. :-)

After saving your current 15-2116 IR file, try loading this file into your 15-2116...

I understand your goal. Once you've confirmed that the upgrade works, I'll show you how to load it into your Slingbox.

Well, it's taken me a bit to get back to you. I had to decode the functions you put into the file for three reasons.

1) Not all functions work unless put into the proper mode to start with. eg You have a bunch of tuner functions on the # keys but they won't work unless the tuner is selected.
2) Some functions could do damage to the amp unless I'm aware they are being used. eg. turning on the left/right front speakers. I only use this amp as a pre-amp for thoes two channels and feed my old Denon stereo amp. Cranking up the amp unloaded could do damage.
3) Hours & hours went into setting up the amp and I don't want to mess with the settings.

So yes, the file loaded fine into the remote and all the functions work. Your using the NEC 2DEV Combo protocol. Why not the NEC1 2DEV Combo? Also you never tried any of the device #2 (126) functions.

I really have to ask, where we are going with this? I know you have a reason but at this point, I don't understand.

P.S. - I used the EFC calculator in ir.exe to do the decoding. I still don't understand the math being used here. Why do they keep jumping back & forth between decimal and hex? For this, hex seems more logical to me.
