I have bought a URC 6131N and would like to know where to buy the JP1 pins or adapter needed. I am in the UK.
Thanks

Keep in mind that you don't just need the pins, you will also need an EEPROM chip.

I already have a JP1 connector, I thought I just needed the pins. OK then. Where do I find the instructions on how to adapt the remote (it has the JP1 holes) for use?

The 6-pin is the "JP1 Connector", what you probably have is a "JP1 Cable".

It's true that the 6131N has holes already, but if you open it up you'll find that the EEPROM is missing. You can trust me on this as I've modified hundreds of units of this remote (and the regular 6131).

Here are the instructions...

Thanks again Rob.
Now I need to source these components in the UK. Do these look like the correct items?

The pins are good, but not the EEPROM. That EEPROM is a DIP style (ie, it has pins that are supposed to go through holes in the PCB) whereas you need a SOIC or SMD (ie, surface mount) style chip.

Here are some EEPROMs from a UK distributor (get the AT24C16B):

http://www.rapidonline.com/Electronic-Components/Integrated-Circuits/Memory/AT24Cx-EEPROMs/80426/kw/eeprom

And this pic from that site shows the difference between the DIP (left) and SMD (right) versions of the chip:

They also have the headers:

Just getting round to buying this item now. Robman, you said get the AT24C16B but the site you linked me to shows 2 pictures and all those chips under identical codes so I'm not sure when ordering that it is the right one. After sourcing a supplier that shows me a picture of that part number -
http://uk.farnell.com/1362650/semiconductors-integrated-circuits/product.us0?sku=atmel-at24c16b-pu
that one is not the surface mount.

this however shows me the surface mount chip -
http://uk.farnell.com/1362651/semiconductors-integrated-circuits/product.us0?sku=atmel-at24c16bn-sh-b
would that be OK?

Thanks

In the list of EEPROMs on the link I originally gave you there are two 24C16 chips:

AT24C16B-PU EEPROM SERIAL 16K DIL8 RC - this is the DIP chip (don't use this one)
AT24C16BN-SH-B EEPROM SERIAL 16K RC - this is the SMD chip (this is the one you want)

You'll notice that the part numbers (ie, AT24C16B-PU and AT24C16BN-SH-B) are exactly the same on the two new links that you posted. So pick from whichever source is cheaper and easier for you.
