how to match RM button layout to slingplayer button layout

Post by sbp kid »

I'm having a tough time trying to figure out how to match the slingplayer remote button layout with the RM button layout. I finally figured out how to change the skin in slingplayer to give me a different looking remote, but I've not yet figured out how to make the remote in RM match that remote so that I can configure the buttons to match the required functions. Any help would be appreciated.

Is it the skin.xml file that maps device functions from the SBAV files to an actual button on the skin remote? I'm looking at my custom SBAV .bin files and trying to find some correlation to what is in the skin.xml. I'm just not making the connection between the two. I don't see the same terminology. I want to change the function of the buttons on my slingplayer remote. I am using kiwin's skin. I am new at this, so if I'm not making any sense bear with me.

Yes the mapping is in skin.xml. The extra buttons on my slingplayer skin are labeled "id.remote.custom. ". In RM they are called "Discrete Input (INPUT)"and "Future Pick (FP)".

Some details on the mapping is here: http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=4429

Is there a write up anywhere on how you can create (or edit) your own custom skins? I used to know how to do it, but I've forgotten.

How to create a skin

Unfortunately the example skins seem to have disappeared from the projects site 8-(

Note that I used a skin to create a remote (since sling has not given out any remote examples)
(and now it seems the skins are not being given out either.)
