I have just spent a precious afternoon trying, unsuccesfully, to get
this USB device to work. I ordered it from diygadget.com almost a year ago, but have not had time to try it until now. I am wishing I had just bought a new remote.
I was secondly very surprised to find that Windows could not find the
driver for the device anywhere on the Internet. I spent several hours
browsing the JP1 forums until I found mention of a "Delcom" USB driver,
then searched until I found it to download. However, Windows does not
recognise the file as a driver file when I attempt to install it.
I then found and downloaded the "CD Content" on the DIYGADGET.COM website, as well as instructions for connecting the USB device.
The drivers appear to be identical to the ones I sourced elsewhere, and there is no change to the situation.
I should also mention that Windows XP does not recognise the USB device; not as a "USB IO Controller" as the online instructions suggest, nor as anything else. It simply appears as an "unknown device".
I have now tried the device on three different computers, with the same result: "USB Device Not Recognized". I have repeatedly removed the device from the Windows device manager, and attempted to reinstall it. I think I've blown 40 bucks and a day of my life. Why didn't I just go parallel?
