Serial Cable and Serial to USB adapter

Post by japapoe »

I have the JP1.2 serial cable and a serial to USB adapter since I have no serial port on my laptop. When I start ir.exe it won't find the remote for some reason and i've tried all sorts of different orders of connecting everything....is there something I am missing? I have a Comcast 1067-A remote and I've tried connecting the 6 pin connector both ways as well but still nothing. Thanks for all the help!

When you install the USB serial adapter, does it show up in the devices table for Windows?

have you set the port baud rate properly?
this JP1 stuff is a sickness!

Did you lock your adaptor to use the same com port all the time?

well when I go to device manager its shows my usb serial at com1 and i also have com1 selected in IR. But it says when I try to check the interface that it does not appear to have power. I have tried the connection both ways into the remote and nothing....and the batteries are new. Thank you! Also how do I set the baud rate and to what speed?

Under Interface tabsheet, make sure you have JP1.x checked. You don't need to(can't) specify a COM port as the driver will try COM1 to COM19.
