Motorola VIP1200 Discrete On/Off or Possible Emulation

Post by chasman1964 »

Hi, all.

Is anyone aware of discrete on/off codes for the Motorola VIP1200 set top box used by AT&T U-verse? If none exist, can anyone suggest a way to force discrete behavior? I know that pressing "OK" will turn the unit on from standby, so that could serve as an acceptable discrete on. However, I do not know of anything that will turn the unit off other than the power toggle. And because "OK" can act as a discrete on, I don't see any way to use a ToadTog predictably.

I welcome any inputs. Thanks!

off = OK + power toggle?

if it's on, OK does nothing and the power toggle turns it off
if it's off, OK turns it on and the power toggle turns it back off
this JP1 stuff is a sickness!

off = OK + power toggle?
I thought about that, but I would prefer not to turn it on and turn it off to maintain an off state, since I do have a power off macro that turns off all devices (including those already off). Still, I'll use your solution if I can't come up with anything better. Thanks.
