keymap-master v8.07 available!

Post by Mark Pierson »

The latest version of KM (v8.07) is available.

Changes include:
  • Modified 'Panasonic VCR Combo' for 'URC-6131', 'URC-9960', and 'Atlas'. (Thanks Rob)
  • Added provisions for entry of up to 6 device codes/parms.
  • Misc VBA code enhancements."

As usual, thank you Mark!

Rob - how do the phpBB priveledges work? I think you should give Mark rights to making these posts into "announcements" (and anyone else actively working on JP1 stuff). Apologies to Rob if this has already been considered. Apologies anyway for not minding my own business. 8)

Do those two statements go together?

I was surprised at the change to the VCR Combo protocol. In 8.06 it let you input the main device and subdevice (of course it didn't create a correct upgrade for those three remotes). In 8.07 it doesn't let you input any device or subdevice for Panasonic VCR combo, in either the new or old versions. I assume it generates a correct upgrade for 144.0/128.1 but I didn't check.

Both 8.06 and 8.07 seem to have "protocol help" that describes a more flexible protocol (changing OEM numbers for JVC-48 etc.) than the setup sheet actually provides.

Are these things bugs? Or features? Or I missed some way to enter "advanced" fields or something?

I'll go on using RemoteMaster instead anyway. But I thought you'd want the feedback.

That was my doing. The way I see it, UEI only intended this protocol to work with 144.0, 144.1, 128.0 and possibly 128.1 device codes, and that is how the help display describes the protocol in KM. So, I figured why confuse things by asking the user to enter device codes and potentially get them wrong, so let's just force them to use the defaults.

If the user really wants to use a different mix of Panasonic device codes, they are probably better off using one of the more advanced combo protocols than the rather limited "VCR combo".

I didn't check if Mark added support for the full featured combo version yet, but it is our intent to do so.

As Rob said, I do have a complete set of keys to the Kingdom! ;)

However, I also suffer from CRAFT (Can't Remember a F#$%!#@ Thing), so I forgot to select the Announcement option. I have corrected that now that it was pointed out to me!

Mark,

Could you please shift John's post about his beta RM as an announcement also? Apparantly he suffered from the same temporary oversite, since he has used "announcement" feature in the past.

Yeah, blame it all on Rob! ;)

The new Panasonic Mixed Combo isn't in KM yet, but the change to allow up to 6 device/parm entries was done in anticipation of doing so.

It's not really a full release, so perhaps an announcment doesn't apply. However, if John wants to change it, he can do so... I'll leave it up to him.

Getting back on topic...

In my haste to get the new KM posted, I introduced a minor bug.

If you select the Panasonic VCR Combo protocol on an S3C8 remote that doesn't natively support it, you'll get a bunch of error messages in the Protocol Code block.

I've fixed it, but don't want to upload a new version just yet.
