I apologize for my ignorance here. I have spent the last two hours searching the site for an answer to this and vaguely recall experiencing this when I originally configured this remote.
Anyway, I have a URC 9910b01. I hooked it up to my pc, pathed to the appropriate directory for rdf files, and verified the remote is communicating. With the jp1 cable unplugged or backwords I get an error when I test connection, and when connected properly, it responds accordingly to the test (ie, it appears connectivity is there).
When I go to download the info from the remote to back it up before I tinker with it (got a new dvr/pvr), it acts like the download is complete, the remote's LCD screen goes wacky (as in all characters are lit up) during the download, and the bottom left hand corner red dot in the ir.exe program blinks as it downloads. Problem is, I don't see tabs for devices after download, which I vaguely recall from having messed with it 2 years ago or so. Just shows general and raw tabs. Any ideas how I am screwing up?
Download is blank?

Despite your claim to the contrary, IR is not finding the RDF for your remote.
First, look at the Raw data tab and read off the remote signature there. It should say CPT0CPT0.
Next, check your RDF folder and ensure that RDF CPT0CPT0 (or whatever the Raw Data tab indicated) is present.
Finally, check again your RDF path in IR. Make sure you click "OK" after you select the correct directory (by double-clicking it).
If none of that works, post your uploaded IR file to the diagnosis area and provide a link to it here.

You are absolutely right. Oddly enough, when I tried to download it gave me an rdf file error until I pathed it to the directory the files were stored in. This error went away but downloads were blank.
What worked is I had to take the rdf file and leave it in the directory where ir.exe was rather than a subfolder and it worked. Thanks Capn

That indicates that you have still not correctly selected the RDF directory in IR's "File>Set Directory>RDF Path..." selection.spur wrote: I had to take the rdf file and leave it in the directory where ir.exe was rather than a subfolder and it worked. Thanks Capn

Another option would be to rework the Select Directory dialog to ensure that a directory containing RDF's is selected, and display some sort of error message when then OK button is clicked if not.Tommy Tyler wrote:IR could look in the registry at startup
Currently, just selecting a directory name in the Directories list does nothing... it requires a double-click. I think it confuses people that hi-lighting the name and clicking OK isn't enough.
