Samsung LN-T4661F

Post by bdpeter »

Hello, I am fairly new at this, just found the forum last night.
I may need a little help understanding how to get Advanced codes saved to a key on my remote. I would like to be able to use Advanced Codes to do discrete Input selections. Right now I have to hit the "Source" button a number of times to cycle the Inputs, but the Codes for the LN-T5265F would probably work. I just have no idea how to take the information I have and apply it. I do not have a JP1 cable. I would prefer to enter the Advanced Codes, if someone could help me understand how.

1. Device: Samsung LN-T4661F
2. Type of device: LCD HDTV
3. Year: 2007
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: URC-9960
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? No
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? Yes, appears a close match, but I don't understand what to do with it.
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes
9. Partially working setup code? Yes, have "learned" many functions.
10. Learning remote question? I don't think my original remote has the functions that I would like to program.

Thanks,
Bryan

Current Code for TV

Post by bdpeter »

I think I am currently using the TV code 0060. Sorry, I forgot to mention that. Should I be calling One-For-All to get the new codes for Samsung TVs before digging deeper?
Thanks,
Bryan

First, I would try using setup code TV/0702 instead. It's possible that with 0060 repeating functions like volume would not work when held, but with 0702, it should work. The file you refer to uses the same protocol as TV/0702, not TV/0060.

To enter advanced codes do the following:
1. Press and release the device key (TV device key)
2. Press and hold SETUP until the remote blinks twice
3. Press and release OTHER
4. Type 9 9 4
5. Press and release SETUP
6. Type in the advanced code
7. Press and release the key you want to assign the function to.
The remote should blink twice. Repeat steps 4 through 7 for additional advanced codes.

The advanced codes are the EFC column in the file. Here are the discretes from the file:

select tv = 251
select digital tv = 171
select HDMI 1 = 081
select HDMI 2 = 030
select HDMI 3 = 175
select component 1 = 190
select component 2 = 061
select VGA = 073
select AV 1 = 192
select AV 2 = 080
DiscreteOn = 001
DiscreteOff = 253

Depending on the model, your remote might take 5 digit advanced codes. In that case add 2 zeros to the front of the codes above (ie HDMI1 = 00081).

BTW, since URC-9960 is modem upgradeable, you can also use the file you found to create a wav file to upload it to the remote. That's a bit more involved, though and in this case (simply adding functions on existing setup code), advanced code method is easier.

I tried the steps you listed, in the exact order. It appears that as soon as I type in 9 9 4 and click on select, the key pad of numbers is no longer available. I have tried clicking on the TV "button" but all I did we set my 1 to a 0, literally.

I am looking at the file below. There are two listed for the LN-T5265F, with different advanced codes, which is in the same family as my Samsung 4661F. But it looks like it might be using the starting device code of 1060.

Name:,Samsung LN-T5265F,,,,v9.08a,,,,,,,CURRENT DATA,
Devices:,NECx2,7,7,,,,,,,,,,
Manual:,,0 = 1-byte,LSB-COMP,88,NO,,,,,,,,
Setup:,1060,99 = URC-8820 / 10820 / 6820,02 - TV,EFC,USE,31 1F 1F,1,No,,,,,
URC-8820 / 10820 / 6820 Device Upgrade Code:,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Upgrade Code 0 = 14 24 (TV/1060) Samsung LN-T5265F (KM v9.08a),,,,,,,,,,,,,

Also, what does the following mean?
select tv,251,,record,34 - record,,,,,,,,,
select digital tv,171,,exit,19 - exit,,,,,,,,,
select HDMI 1,081,,CC,48 - caption,,,,,,,,,
select HDMI 2,030,,input,26 - source,,,,,,,,,
select HDMI 3,175,,+100,25 - enter/-,,,,,,,,,
select component 1,190,,fav,,,,,,,,,,
select component 2,061,,device button,,,,,,,,,,
select VGA,073,,skip+,52 - pip ch+,,,,,,,,,
select AV 1,192,,skip-,53 - pip ch-,,,,,,,,,
select AV 2,080,,shift-left,,,,,,,,,,

I can see the 081 above, but what is the CC, or in the case of HDMI 3 the +100.I am just trying to figure out how to read this thing.

Anyway, for whatever reason, when I click 9 9 4, then select, my numeric pad goes away. Is 9 9 4 the correct code? Is there any difinitive way to know if it is 3 or 5 digits in the Advanced codes on my 9960? Do I need to call and get to 1060 to have a chance at getting this to work? I appreciate your help, I am really excited to get this working. Thanks,
Bryan

I think I figured it out.

Post by bdpeter »

I think I may have figured it out. I found a post with similar but slightly different directions to punch the codes in and I was able to setup discrete codes for all my input sources. Thank you a ton for pointing me in the right direction. Forums like this one and another of my favs www.satelliteguys.us, are a huge help and source of information.
Thanks,
Bryan

Here are the slight different directions that I found. I used the Advanced Codes you provided.

Maybe one of the other experts will jump in here with better info. But I expect it is similar to these instructions from the 9960 Kameleon:

1. Press and hold SETUP until the two bottom IR segments flash twice. The Program Keys will appear as SETUP flashes repeatedly.

2. Press OTHER once. The Other programming screen will appear:

3. Using the Number Keys, enter 9 9 4.The two bottom IR segments will flash twice.

4. Press the "source" device key (the one on which you temporarily programmed DVD/0711).

5. Do a short press and release of the Setup key.

6. Key in the EFC number. I'm not sure whether the 6962 uses three digit EFC numbers or five digit EFC numbers. Test to see what works. If it uses five digit EFC numbers, put 00 before each of the three digit numbers listed below.

7. Press the destination device key (I assume that is SAT).

8. Press the key that you want to define with this keymove.

9. Repeat steps 3 through 8 if you want to define more keymoves at this time.

10. Exit programming by pressing HOME once.

There are probably keymover instructions in your manual. If so, compare those to these. Steps 5 and 6 are different because this is an EFC keymove not an ordinary keymove. But the rest of the steps should match. If they don't match, try using the steps from your manual.

**I think the only difference, was selecting TV (gave me my numeric Keypad), then a key tap on "Setup", then the code, then the Selecting TV again, and then hitting the button I wanted it stored in.

Sounds like you got entering the advanced code part working. Sorry, I think I missed a step in my directions.

Just a few clarifications.

If you want to read the upgrade files. You need to either download Keymap master (KM), if you have EXCEL, or Remotemaster (RM), if you don't. RM requires JAVA, and couple of other files downloadble from this site. You can read more details here.

That 1060 is actually just something made up by the writer of upgrade, so it's not really relevant to the info you are looking for. It can really be anything as long as it doesn't conflict with other codes you are using.
