Too many "what interface?" sticky posts?

Post by Capn Trips »

If one looks at the "Announcements" and "Sticky Posts" in this hardware forum, one will notice that the first five threads deal with in one way or another interface cables. I would suggest that a site admin relegate four of these threads to "normal post" status, and make the "Choose the right JP1/1.x interface..." thread the "1-stop shopping" thread for interface design-seekers.

I would also humbly suggest appending the interface compatibility spreadsheet I ginned up to the first post of that thread, as well.

Seconded... :)

I'm eagerly anticipating the arrival of my JP1.3 remotes in due course (thanks Vicky :) ), and I've been following the discussion on interfaces with great interest for that very reason.

Whilst I'm pretty sure I understand the situation now, thanks in equal part to Tommy's usual superb clarity and the Capn's extremely useful spreadsheet, I do feel that it's all got potentially a bit confusing for a newcomer.

People arriving for the first time to decide what interface to buy/build to program their remote need to be able to very quickly establish the facts.

There's no harm in linking to the other posts from the main thread for further info.

jmho...
