Upload your current IR file again and post a link to it here (the one you posted earlier didn't have any key moves in it so there weren't any shited functions to try). The previous file also was NOT an extender file. I think you're confusing the extender with "extended" codes (what we refer to as "advanced codes").
If SETUP-1-0-7 results in the Disc 1 command being issued, then SETUP-SETUP-1 should send the Disc 1 command provided it is setup as a key move on the shifted 1 key.

Here is today's ir file, freshly downloaded from remote http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=5050
I downloaded the 8080 extender file and put the files in with the other rdf files. I then opened that remote in remote master and went from there. I don't know if the extender loaded or not.
I believe I understand the difference between an extender and extended codes. That is not the current source of my confusion.
Thanks again Mark.

Well looking at the new file the keymove is definitely setup for shift 1 with an efc of 107. Looking at the file if setup 107 works then setup setup 1 should work too. Looking at this IR file I see nothing indicating that it is using an extender at this point. I'd expect to see several device and protocol upgrade for that and there aren't any. Only the 2 that were added when you sent the remote in and the one you added.
I did notice that shift 2 is efc 069 when in your post you said it was 062 so that might be a problem.

dtrouter,
What you are calling an extender and what the rest of us are calling an extender are two completely different things.
You do NOT need to load the extender in order to use keymoves, so please disregard any talk of using the extender.
As the URC-8080 is a really old remote, most of the more recent JP1 members may not know much about it. Just for their benefit, the URC-8080 has two "shift" buttons, it has the traditional SETUP button (which is what most people here call the "shift" button, and it has an actual SHIFT button.
There are a few buttons on this remote that are dual purpose, where you need to use the official SHIFT button to access the 2nd function. Both modes of these buttons are included in the keymaps.
The remote also supports regular shifted buttons (that need to be programmed using keymoves), and you access these functions using the SETUP button.

Yes, this is an old remote. It has a "Magic" key instead of Setup. Regardless, Shift + 1, Setup + 1 or Setup + Setup + 1, none of these work.
I have been unsuccessful accessing any of the Keymoves that appear in on the keymove tab.
Evan_s, you are correct shift 2 is 069 not 062. I fat fingered that one. Sorry.
I tried to load the extender to be able to set time and access more shifted codes but it does not seem to be working (or more likely, I am not working it correctly). There was a mention in the readme zipped with the 8080 rdf of adding a device but when I tried to add the code listed, ir.exe said invalid action and stopped, so I guess the extender didn't load and there were no additional device codes showing.
Bottom line, I don't care how I do it, I would just like to make it work.
Rob -- Thanks for a GREAT website and all your efforts to build this hobby/distraction.

If the keymoves are on the numeric buttons, you will need to press MAGIC twice in order to activate them.

Perhaps the new upgrade was set up as "device button restricted" I can't open RM files here at work to see.
Since the mail in upgrades have different fixed data, I'd try changing the keymoves to device code 1082 and see if that fixes the problem. If that doesn work try 0790 and see if that fixes the problem.

There is a note at the bottom of the IR devices tab that says: Note: This remote contains a bug that prevents device upgrades from working if they use upgraded protocols. Workaround: Set up devices that use upgraded protocols as "device button restricted."
When I initially transferred the output from RM to the new 1390 device in IR, I set it as Device Aux1 (dvd) only. I have since reworked it in RM and changed it to Device unrestricted. No help.
I have since added functions in RM to control my TV vol and mute. These work great. Then just for sake of curiosity I swapped Disc 1 to key 1 and key 1 to Shift +1. Disc 1 works but key 1 does not so the problem appears to be with Shifting the number keys.
I tried assigning the key moves to both 0790 and 1082. Still no effect. 'Tis a puzzlement.
