Hi community!
i got a brand new URC-8060 (this remote is nice, damn... better than my old (newer) kameleon 2 - 4 in 1) and atm im building a serial interface following the Document from Tommy N. Tyler: "HOW TO BUILD A SERIAL PORT INTERFACE FOR JP1"
now i got 2 questions:
1. in my electronics-shop i only got a 74HCT03 well i dont know but i think its not that important if this IC supports only TTL input? since the voltage of an serial interface should be about 5Volt, shouldnt it?
2. since i didnt found a document about the jp1 pins and also the document from which i solder a serial interface atm seems do tell exactly which pin of my 8060 is which pin of my jp1-cable. could someone please clarify this?
thank you in advance,
alterego

Re: q about 74hc(t)03 and q about jp1-pins
Should be. Is it? I doubt it. Laptops I'm familiar with run 3-3.5v at least on the parallel port, I suspect serial is low as well.alterego wrote:i think its not that important if this IC supports only TTL input? since the voltage of an serial interface should be about 5Volt, shouldnt it?
Have you seen this?

Re: question about 74hc(t)03 and jp1-pins
The only question is whether the 6-pin is "upside down" or not, which is irrelevant as far as constructing the cable is concerned.alterego wrote:2. since i didnt found a document about the jp1 pins and also the document from which i solder a serial interface atm seems do tell exactly which pin of my 8060 is which pin of my jp1-cable. could someone please clarify this?
The typical pin arrangement for US JP1 remotes is:
2 4 6
1 3 5
and the typical arrangement for European JP1 remotes is:
5 3 1
6 4 2
