SlingBox IR code for Verizon FIOS set top box: Motorola QIP6416 needed.
IR Blaster is a JU.
The set top box is a 2006 model.
I don't have a JP1 cable, but probably don't need it for
the SlingBox software remote control
I read that code 0476 will work, but I don't know what this
means, where to find it, or how to use it. Any advice would be
appreciated. I read the Sticky, but still don't know where to
find code 0476.
Verizon and SlingBox "Help" aren't any help with this. Without
remote control my SlingBox is useless. I just bought it over the
net not knowing the codes weren't listed or available.

SlingBox IR code for Verizon FIOS box: MOT QIP6200/QIP64xx
Moderator: Moderators
Hi,
I'm kind of in the same boat, I want to get a working remote for Slingbox for FiOS set top boxes. I have the IR codes for the FiOS remote, the image and image map for the remote, and both the JU and PL slingbox remote files for use with Remote Master to compile a bin.
To answer your question about code 0476 - I find that Remote Master defaults to that code when I tell it to load the 'GI Cable' (General Instrument [old Motorola]) protocol.
These are links to the files I've been able to make so far this evening (right click, save target as).
Sling JU File
Sling PL File
Remote Image
Image Map
RMDU File
For some reason I cannot get Remote Master to "see" all of the mapped sections of my map. Also when I compile the bin file, its only 49 bytes - so I'm fairly certain I'm doing something wrong.
I am a total newbie with using Remote Master. Any help from those who know more than myself, would be greatly appreciated.

You seem to have a few misunderstandings regarding RemoteMaster. Have you read the beginner's Read Mes?
First, you need not create any rdfs, nor map, nor image files - so discard the first four files you "created" and linked to above. The rdf's for Slingbox (PL, JU, and two other chps) are already included in the required rdf zip file which you should have downloaded.
Your OEM FIOS remote (presumably NOT a JP1 remote) is immaterial to RM, so there is no point in making a image and map file for it. (I've never seen this remote, so I don't know if, but doubt that, it is a JP1 remote). Even if it were a JP1 remote, it's immaterial, as you are creating a file for the Sligbox, not for the FIOS remote. (Plus if it were a JP1 remote, an rdf would have to be created for it.)
Third - your GI cable upgrade rmdu file has setup code number 0000. The 0476 number in the notes section is meaningless. It is merely there for info that many UEIC remotes have built-in code CBL/0476 which uses that GI cable protocol. You need to type in whatever upgrade code you want in the setup code box.
Fourth, the size of your bin file is about right. These are compact files that store the useful data efficiently, although I got a 56-byte file from yo rmdu file, not 49. How did you generate the bin file?

Finally, how did you get them? ...and what makes you believe that they use the GI Cable protocol? THAT is the information that would prove most useful to anybody trying to help.0100010 wrote:I have the IR codes for the FiOS remote

Today I use the Motorola Comcast remote code set in slingbox, and it works fairly well, just wanted to get a more accurate remote configured and update the image of the remote if possible.
The FiOS remote is not a JP1. I wanted to create the image map for it because I had thought (incorrectly) that it would be useful in creating an updated remote image for slingplayer. (That information seems impossible to find.)
Verizon FiOS uses Motorola QIP series STBs (2500, 6200, 6416, 2708), and now also the DCT700. They have supplied three remotes since they started offering service - the Motorola DRC800, a Scientific Atlanta AT8550 (using Motorola code 0008) and now their own remote manufactured by Phillips.
Motorola used to be General Instruments Cable, and most univeral remotes use the code 0476 to control Motorola equipment, and the same IR code set functions almost fully with Verizons latest set top box software (which they call IMG - Interactive Media Guide).
I used a RedRat to capture the IR codes from the current Phillips remote (RC144xxxx I think). The IR code changes from the original DRC800 to the current Phillips remote are very few.
So maybe my bin file is correct and I'm just not loading it properly?

Found out what I was doing wrong - entering the information from the RedRat into the hex column and not the OBC column. I still seem to have a couple of codes incorrect, will verify them tomorrow.
I re-uploaded the RMDU file above, when I get it 100% I'll upload it to the site. I'm sure a lot of FiOS customers would like a remote that can stop / pause (DVR / VOD) playback over sling (in the new IMG).
Still doesn't help me with the other goal of updating the sling remote though.
