It opens fine in KM 9.08. What specifically happens at what point when you try to Load it? Do you have security settings set too high in Excel such that KM's macros won't run?

I receive the error message:
"This file does not appear to be a valid keymap-master device upgrade.
Please select another file."
Security level is set to low and macros are enabled. I have no trouble opening other upgrades and I have downloaded this file 3 times to make sure it wasn't a download error.

Thanks

Identical error here.
The format of the file seems a tad different than other KM files.
I can't open it with KM8.32 and can't open with KM9.08 on Windows2000, all rights, where things normally work. The description indicates something about v5.04 - it might be old KM file.

I believe you are correct ElizibethD, I went to the archives and pulled up KM 5.1 and it opens the file. I wonder if there is any way to update it to work with newer versions of KM. I'll play with it this evening when I get home from work.

There's obviously something different about the KM5.04 file format that newer versions don't like. I updated this one in the file section to v9.08 format.

I just posted an extract to copy from and paste into KM
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=4702
Yeah, the format definitely is different now.

But I see Mike did the whole thing so the extract is probably not needed.

You don't need to do the extract thing, you just need to open these old KM files with an intermediate KM version (I usually use one of the 7.xx versions, but it sounds like 5.19 is good enough) and then save them again.

The intermediate versions of KM can still read the old KM files, but will save the file in a format that the newest KM versions can read.

OK, so why did it open fine for me? KM 9.08 on Office 2003 on WinXP MCE SP2. Opened right up - no problem. :?

"under my skin and I don't know why?" I went through this upgrade line by line in the text document, and found that just changing:
the version to 9.06 and adding (7) commas then "current data"
it loads up fine. So the first string in the text document looks like this:
Name:,Sony DAVS500 DVD HTS,,,,v9.06,,,,,,,CURRENT DATA
As for it loading up for Cajun trips with out probs I don't Know, cause It looks like we are using the same OS set up (gateway?)

Exactly. I used a v6.xx to load & resave the old file, then used v9.08 to load & resave again so that the file format would be 100% up to date (and RM compatible).

That's a really good question. I saved an unaltered copy of the original file and just tried again. It absolutely will not open in KM 9.08 for me. Looking at the VBA code in KM 9.08 that loads the upgrade, I do not see any way that it could ever load that file.
