SKY HP remote - Can I use the JP1.2 connection?

Does anyone know how much work is needed to activate the JP1.2 socket on a SKY HD remote?

I'm guessing this would let me build an upgrade file for any TV I buy

Are you certain that it's a JP1.2? Does it already have a 6-pin header? One of the hardest things with previous Sky remotes has been identifying the proper way to modify them for JP1 use. Although previous versions of Sky remotes have been modified and partly hacked (since they are indeed UEIC-manufactured JP1 remotes) they have never really been fully exploited and comprehensively supported by the tools. I had three of them, one Sky and two Sky+, and all were eventually modified (with LOTS of help from others) to communicate via JP1. Ultimately, their built-in limitations made it hardly worth the effort (only 2 devices, certain buttons always tied to one device only, etc.). I suspect that although it's likely that the SkyHD remote is also manufactured by UEIC and may be JP1 or JP1.2 capable, the gain is likely to be worth less than the effort (aside from pure scientific research - which many here enjoy). Depending upon how highly you value your time and aggravation, I would wager that you would meet with more satisfying results picking up a true universal UEIC remote that's already robustly supported by the JP1 tools and customizing it as you desire.

Thnaks for that - It has a block of six holes on the back, tagged JP1.2

BTW I have a URC 7582 for my main set up - Hitachi TV, Panasonic Home cinema, SKY +, Sky HD, VCR - also used to control Telewest box till they "Upgraded" it!

I would like to modify the SKY set up so that it doesn't select AV1 on a panasonic TV inexcept when SKY button is pressed (Not a problem with my Hitachi TV wihich doesn't use a menu to picj the AV inputs, just one keystroke.

It might be as simple as soldering in a 6-pin. If this really is a JP1.2 remote, you won't need to solder in an EEPROM as this platform doesn't use them.

If the holes are just holes, then no. The pogo is designed to work with remotes that have pads rather than holes, like the URC-9960 Kameleon.

However, there are some remotes that have holes that have conductive traces around the holes, like the RCU810 (if memory serves), so I would imagine that the pogo would work with these, but I doubt this is the case with the Sky remote.
