Is it possible to teach a macro from one remote into a simple single key press of another? Specifically 8910 to 8910. Of course I'll experiment on my own and disclose the results, but was curious to see what, if anything, others may have experienced. I have successfully 'taught' a double key press (full on) of a Lutron spacer remote into a single key, but because neither the single press nor double tap is something easily recognized by this newbie (it's not the standard OBC or protocol) I don't know what the resulting signal for the double press is vs. the single press. I will try w/ other commands, and share what I learn. I imagine the remotes being used, the individual commands themselves, and the number of commands are all determining factors (plus possibly others unknown to me)

The length of signal that can be learned using a JP1 remote is limited. You may be able to learn two buttons together if you press the 2nd button quick enough, but it's unlikely that you'll be able to learn more than two.

Of course, you can always learn the buttons one at a time and then put all of them into a regular macro.

Probably not without using the extender.

Without the extender, the remote generates a moderately long duration for each step in a macro and for the pause between steps. For most IR protocols, just that long duration is enough to prevent another 8910 from learning the whole macro. If it weren't enough, I think the pause would be enough.

Just pressing the keys quickly by hand in the sending remote would be more likely to work.

With the extender (in the remote executing the macro), it could go faster than you could press keys manually. Maybe you could get a few keys to learn as one into another 8910.
