Well, it's not fancy, and there aren't a lot of pics, but I have published my website.
Available there are jp1 simple and serial cables, jp1.x cables, accessories, and JTAG PCBs.

... and here's the URL:

http://www.interfaceplace.com/

I notice that you have a serial JP1 cable available and you say that it is compatible with a serial-to-USB cable, are you sure this is true? I was under the impression that the bit-banging that we do with the traditional JP1 cables made them not compatible with converter cables.

I have one of Jim's jp1 (not jp1.1 or jp1.2) serial cables and could not get it to work with a couple of different Serial to USB adapter. I forgot to tell him so he may be thinking it worked.

By the way, it works great and is 3x' faster than the USB adapter. Have not had a parallel port for a long time so can't comment on a comparison between serial and simple/ultra parallel cable.

Oops. I forgot to take that out. OK, thank you for the tip, and I will get that fixed later today!

Hey Jim, you might want to add a statement to the listing for the traditional JP1 parallel and serial cables stating that they won't work with adapter/converter cables, as this tends to be an FAQ for newbies.

Also, I see that you only offer UPS shipping for Canada, you might want to consider the USPS Global Priority Mail service, it's very reliable, it's quick and it costs just $7.50. International Global Priority Mail is also available for $9.50.

Rob,
I will get an FAQ up soon, and will include that in it. In the meantime, I will put that statement on that page to avoid confusion and problems. Thanks for the heads up. Now that I have it this far, I hope to keep it fairly well updated.
Regarding USPS, I have not had great results in using them to ship to Canada. The packages can't be tracked, and it seemed to take an unusually long time for the package to get there everytime I used them. I am just a little bit hesitant on them, but maybe I will offer that option with a disclaimer.

I use USPS all the time for international and it typically takes about 4 days to get to places like Australia and the UK. I've not kept track of the transit time to Canada but I think they generally get there on time also, though I have had one or two that took a couple of weeks.

It's true about the tracking though, so you do pretty much have to take the other persons word for it as to whether the package got there or not. With all the remotes that I've sent overseas I think I've only had packages not turn up, and one of them wasn't even remores, it was some music CDs that I burned for someone in Thailand.

Does anybody have any experience with Interface Place's JP 1.x cables?

From what I have read over the past months, the dedicated JP 1.2 cable seems to be a little bit more reliable than the JP 1.x cable. Unfortunately, DIYGadget (who sells the dedicated JP 1.2 cable ) is all out. Can anybody confirm that Interface Place's JP 1.x cable works relatively reliably?

Thanks.

Just FYI, the JP1.x cables that I sell come from Jim (at Interface Place), so if you bought your cable from me, you can also answer the Capn's question.
